Nat West Digital Regular saver - Sorry if this has previously been answered, can't see answer anywhere.
It mentions in the conditions, joint accounts aren't allowed. If your only current account with them is a joint account does this mean, both husband and wife can apply for this regular saver in their own name, or neither can because the only current account is in joint names and they would need to have separate accounts in their own name to be to apply for this?
In short, yes. One solo savings account each.

I was in the Darlington Building Society this last week and a lady in front of me was trying to put £750 (including the ‘one off’ £500) into her Special Occasions Saver (regular saving account). She was told by the cashier that this 'one off' £500 paying in offer has now ended.

This is borne out in the latest t&c’s promulgated on their website, where all reference to this one off extra £500 payment has been removed.

However, it is again possible to now hold three of these Special Occasions Saver accounts per person (including joint accounts), so with the possibility of saving £750 per month across the three accounts, still at 1.25% (currently).

That's very interesting TY. I squeezed my extra £500 in a couple of months ago. The facility of having up to three accounts wasn't in the T&Cs in July so that's good news for me.

HSBC and Halifax RS early closure

    Good.morning all

I keep seeing posts which suggest these accounts can be closed early.

I can't see options on their apps how to do this.

Can someone be kind enough to tell me how please.

Or is it a case of contacting the two institutions?
    Update here on the Halifax.

I couldn't get the 'renewal' to work at all on the app after multiple attempts over multiple hours.

Worked first time on their website though.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Just been back into the Darlington and opened up another two Special Occasions Savers to take me to the maximum of three. A shame they can't be opened online, even for existing account holders!

The teller in the branch said they have had a flurry of new applications since the rules changed on 1st August, permitting three accounts to be held. Also that she had been told the rate of 1.25% was going to be held for the foreseeable time.

My old RBS and Natwest Regular Savers have now been closed as requested by me last Saturday, and I have already set up new ones, so I am in their latest prize draw. Closure requests were actioned promptly by them, though it does take an overnight system update for them to disappear, and then another overnight update is needed for the new account to show online.

Is there a maximum balance on the SOS account? I have the old closed-issue High Days account with almost identical terms but it has a 25k max

The relevant term is "This account is not a term account and you are able to continue to saver (sic) after 12 months"

So it's open ended, for now.

Coventry have finally caught up with my OH - is he one of the last ones with multiple accounts?
Graciously they are giving 2 months notice before closing the extra accounts up to 19th October 2021.
They say its the 1st account opened after 18th October 2020 that will be allowed to stay open.
But OHs regular saver 3  (1.55%) matures on 16th October, just then leaving issue 4 and 5 open.
Issue 4 matures was opened in November 2020 so thats the one that will stay open at least for the final month before it matures.
Issue 5 will be the excess account they will close.
But then I will reopen it again in November - that is if issue 5 still exists then

Are they imposing a penalty such as loss of interest?
No penalty - they say "if a regular saver is closed before the 12 month period ends we usually charge an amount equal to 30 days calendar interest. However in this case were going to waiver the charge and transfer the savings you hold along with all of the interest you've earned up to the date they're closed to your named bank account.
Just had the dreaded letter from the Coventry, can keep my issue 3 due in Nov but issue 4 must go, that had until Jan 2022 to run.
As above, I must say how civilised the Coventry are about it, two months notice and get to keep all interest.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.
