Thanks for the heads up. Same at RBS: https://personal.rbs.co.uk/personal/savings/digital-regular-saver.html

I closed my existing ones and opened new ones when they last had this offer. Didn't win a bean but will do it again.

Closure can be requested in online banking and takes a few working days to get actioned. Don't forget to delete your Standing Order.

I guess this is the dilemma, keep the old account with a few hundred earning 3%, or start again from £0 but with a chance to win the prize draw.

Closed both of mine but only really to access the £500 in each to put elsewhere.

HSBC and Halifax RS early closure

    Good.morning all

I keep seeing posts which suggest these accounts can be closed early.

I can't see options on their apps how to do this.

Can someone be kind enough to tell me how please.

Or is it a case of contacting the two institutions?

Officially I think you do, although with Halifax you can “renew” your Account into a standard easy access savings account. This will immediately apply the interest and you can the withdraw the funds and then close the account online.

I think HSBC will close via phone or secure message.

Make sure you understand any other terms including whether or not you can reopen a new one and also note HSBC will only pay a negligible amount of interest when you close early.

I'm not sure if HSBC have changed the T&C's of their regular saver, but it used to be that if you closed the account early, the interest applied would be calculated at a lower rate than that of the regular saver.

I was in the Darlington Building Society this last week and a lady in front of me was trying to put £750 (including the ‘one off’ £500) into her Special Occasions Saver (regular saving account). She was told by the cashier that this 'one off' £500 paying in offer has now ended.

This is borne out in the latest t&c’s promulgated on their website, where all reference to this one off extra £500 payment has been removed.

However, it is again possible to now hold three of these Special Occasions Saver accounts per person (including joint accounts), so has the possibility of saving £750 per month across the three accounts, still at 1.25% (currently).

    Thanks for the response.

When I try to do this using the Halifax app I just end up with a blank screen after selecting:

    Apply
    Savings and investments
    Renew
    Selecting the HF RS

Done it twice now and get signed out of the app and the app then has difficulty signing back in.

    I'll try later

Nat West Digital Regular saver has a 10 x £1,000 prize draw for accounts opened in August and deposits made Sept, Oct and Nov. It's a 3% RS but with max contributions only £50 a month.

I'm thinking of closing mine (only 3 months old) and re-opening to get into the draw.
    Anyone see why not?

Thanks you for this. I closed/reopened the last time and have just done the same again.

A bit about the account I wasn't sure about was whether the standing order had to be set up such that the money is deposited from your linked NatWest/RBS account each month (I know you create one as part of opening the account).

I immediately delete the s.o because I keep the linked account empty and deposit £50 each month from another bank account. I think I'll keep the Natwest to Natwest / RBS to RBS s.o going this time, maybe that's necessary to be in with the draw.

Nat West Digital Regular saver - Sorry if this has previously been answered, can't see answer anywhere.
It mentions in the conditions, joint accounts aren't allowed. If your only current account with them is a joint account does this mean, both husband and wife can apply for this regular saver in their own name, or neither can because the only current account is in joint names and they would need to have separate accounts in their own name to be to apply for this?
