Hi Folks,
Here is this weekend's update to this thread.
I will do the next update next weekend.- Darlington BS Special Occasions Saver entry edited to show you can have three of these accounts (including any joint accounts) - Regarding the Leek BS Regular Saver account which has been mentioned on this thread since my last update, I saw this on moneyfacts.co.uk last weekend when I was doing the last update but I could not find it on the Leek BS website so I assumed it was no longer available. I still cannot find it when I go to this page https://www.leekunited.co.uk/savings/regular-saver-and-easy-access/ - Ipswich BS Suffolk Regular Saver account added paying 1.2% fixed on £250 per month until 28th February 2022, existing members and locals only - Stafford Railway BS Regular Saver (Issue 1) account added paying 1% variable on £500 per month with no maturity date
- Saffron BS 12 Month Fixed Rate Regular Saver (Issue 7) withdrawn- Saffron BS 12 Month Fixed Rate Members Regular Saver (Issue 8) account added paying 1.5% fixed on £500 per month for 12 months, existing customers only

Thanks as always. In case it might help, here are links to the RS products of both Leek BS and Scottish BS.https://www.leekunited.co.uk/savings/flexible-regular-saver/

Really impressed with Furness. They have kept their variable branch reg saver at 2.5% throughout 2020, despite other bank and building societies reducing their rates across the board. For a £500/month reg saver during a pandemic that is very generous of them (for us serial savers). You can/could even top up payments if you'd missed a monthly payment (for those who are branch-goers only). Very good CS. Online access. Relaxing of ID requirements for postal applications. Their 3 year reg saver, whilst non-competitive this time last year, is now up there as one of the best. Did not have them on my radar at all 12 months ago, how times have changed...:grouphug:

Just to update for anyone interested in the Furness regular saver,
I spoke to customer service and was told due to covid, I could just photo copy my driving licence or passport and utility bill and post it back with my application form and cheque.
So currently no branch face to face needed or original documents needed so fill your boots.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -

Maybe better to direct people to how they can find the details on the providers website instead of quoting them.
And then those stories are used to create pressure on said banks to refund untraceable monies from their own coffers which in other circumstances would have not. And they cave in for fear of bad press. And where does that refund money come from? The bank's fraud reserves, which are paid for by yours truly indirectly as well as everybody else.
Now, that is abuse, in my opinion. On the part of that elderly couple, and/or the advocating personal finance web site. Abusing the rest of us - or rather dumping the abuse they suffered unto us, quite merrily -even though in the original feature they seemed afflicted-, now our collective loss becoming their new-found comfort. Or do they think we don't notice?
Everybody remember that when they see the next one on.0 -

Anyway, this is all heading further off topic so probably best to leave it there....1 -
Good thing I didn't comment upon the difficulty of knowing a dead person - as against knowing of. ...1
