This new system is confusing Furness have confirmed I am inputting correct details. Problem is the account is not online so will have to email them to check the £1 has gone into the account
Minor point... you can register for an online Furness account and see your passbook/offline accounts. Click on 'esavings login' and then 'register for online access'. Worked for me!

I don't think it's a good idea for people to post on this thread account number and sort codes for various BS due to the possibility that someone unscrupulous may quote the wrong details (aka their own) in attempt to misdirect funds. Maybe better to direct people to how they can find the details on the providers website instead of quoting them.
I wouldn't disagree with the final sentence, as teaching someone how to fish is generally more constructive than just giving them a fish, but anyone sending money to a sort code and account number they've seen on a web forum, without validating it somewhere more authoritative, deserves all they get IMHO!

Can you override the non-recognition, as long as you're sure sort code, account number, reference correctly completed?
With Nationwide online banking you can, after acknowledging warnings!
All banks allow you to ignore the mismatch warnings.
Sainsbury's Bank point blank refused to let me send money to my Skipton Building Society account because the account holder name was "Skipton Building Society" and not "Fingerbobs" insisting that it was not my own account.
Had to transfer to my current account and then out to Skipton.

Apologies if this has previously been mentioned but I’ve just noticed Ipswich Building Society have a new Regular Saver.  1.2% fixed until February 2022 but with restrictions (local postcodes).

Thanks for the heads-up on this! Looks like it can be opened even if you already have an existing Smart Save Monthy account.

Thanks for the heads up. That would definitely be a reason for me not to use Sainsbury Bank.

I got an instruction to select 'business' when setting up a new standing order to Skipton.

I think the rule of thumb is Business if you are sending to a BS via their account with X Bank and your account number is the reference. If it's your own account in the receiving party it's Personal. That's my experience.

When sending money to one of my own accounts, I always use Personal. In 100% of all cases I get a name mismatch (that I ignore) as I never use my actual account name but the  naming convention I described earlier.

Only when I pay an actual bill do I use Business. I now only proceed if I get a name match.
