I was trying to close issue 50 online, but the only options were cash in branch and cheque by post. I've attempted to set up nominated bank account and received the following e-mail:
Thanks for your recent secure message. We've looked into your request and as your account isn't an online based account, we aren't able to add your requested nominated account. Making external or internal payments online is only possible with our range of online accounts. With your account, you can withdraw funds in cash in a branch, by cheque or internal transfer in a branch or via post, or you can request a cheque via our Secure Message option online (subject to terms and conditions). If you'd like to add a nominated account to another account which is online, please send us another request online with this account number or simply reply to this email confirming the account number these details should be added to.
Is there any way of receiving my money by bank transfer? I have a branch not far from where I am so it's not a big problem, but prefer to avoid branch visit if I can.
Open a Leeds E-Saver @ 2.3%. You can then request Leeds to move funds and/or close your Reg Saver moving funds to the E-Saver.This seems to take 24 hours, but you you can then withdraw on-line to your nominated bank account set up when you opened the E-Saver. The downside is that E-Saver has a minimum balance requirement of £100,but you can close it.2 -

One thing to note though is that in my experience funds are debited from the account that day but arrive the next working day when making electronic withdrawals so if you are going to go down this route I would do so on Monday so you receive the funds on Tuesday 31/12/24 to minimise interest loss.

Apparently payments in excess of the limit are not immediately bounced.Under additional information, they do rather mysteriously say:2 -

I did exactly the above, and when I went to close the account, I selected cheque... only to be told days later by Leeds via email that it was not possible "Cheque withdrawals are not available on the ESAVER (issue 8)"— which is odd, as I wasn't 'withdrawing' but seeking closure. I have sent a message to them to see what's going on.0 -
