Agreed, it's not rocket science.Nick_C said:
If you are actually saving £500 a month from surplus income (as opposed to moving money around), the best option is £300 to Progressive and £200 to Monmouthshire.Middle_Sister said:Am I right in thinking the Monmouthshire Reg Saver is paying 6% at £500 a month.
I was looking at the Progressive Reg Saver paying 7% at £300 a month.
Why is everyone leaning towards the Monmouthshire Reg Saver?I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
Whichever you may choose to save with I wouldn't hang about, those accounts may not be around for much longer.Middle_Sister said:Am I right in thinking the Monmouthshire Reg Saver is paying 6% at £500 a month.

Progressive basically no help to me, seems my enquiry went through twice, they marked it as resolved and basically told me to try again🙄😌, also said to make sure I fill out all 5 sections, I'm like I've done all that hence why I sent an enquiry0

is it mandatory to open current account to have Progressive Reg Saver? Vaguely remember that there was certified ID requirement that would cost a good amount of money.
Sorry missed reading about it all, unwell. I missed Monmouth Reg Saver too :-(
If anyone knows page no where relevant info is, it will be very helpful. Thanks0 -
Progressive don't offer a current account and you don't have to submit certified copies of ID. All the relevant information is here:is it mandatory to open current account to have Progressive Reg Saver? Vaguely remember that there was certified ID requirement that would cost a good amount of money.

I was referring to sending a digital copy of your signed signatory form. If you haven't received a physical signatory form to sign, then best bet is to contact Monmouthshire BS themselves.trickydicky14 said:
So how do I do this, I still waiting for a form in the post. Is one available online that can be filled in. I'm a long standing customer with several accounts with them.DJDools said:

I've been waiting a week today for something in the post.mattojgb said:
Am I to understand that they had lost and/or had no record of your account opening? I applied last Wednesday and haven't heard anything from them. I may just go into a branch tomorrow.FishInGlass said:
The hard working gentleman was not doing that when I went in branch at 4.40 today. I phoned them earlier to find my online application from last Wednesday had gone walkabout. Went in and 10 minuters later had a new shiny passbook with £500 deposited. Normally it would take longer but as one lady said if I have already applied online I would have already seen the T&Cs.trickydicky14 said:
Those hard working ladies are probably now tucking into a nice slice of Bara Brith and a cup of tea.badger09 said:
I’m bored this afternoon & keen to get MONBS up & running & 1 Sept SO set up before I go away for 3 weeks this weekend. ‘Pending’ has now disappeared so assume they’re busy crediting yesterday’s FPs. Got a mental picture of ladies in full Welsh National costume, entering figures in a huge ledger in beautiful copperplate script.badger09 said:
My £500 sent yesterday morning is not yet showing in MONBS RS account. Account just shows ‘Pending’, but no balance. I had expected it to be credited today.schiff said:
Signature letter dated 21/8 (day of application) received today and sent back today. Added the account successfully to the home page and sent £100 by FP today, intending to add £400 once it shows. Optimistic that it will be done and dusted in August for adding to it next month.badger09 said:MONBS RS
I applied for this 22/8 & received signature letter today. I’ve added account to ‘My Accounts’ & sent initial £500 by FP this morning. I’ll post signature form tomorrow & set up SO from 1 Sept as soon as £500 appears.
My Exclusive 1 matures on Friday but I wasn't prepared to risk waiting.Honestly, I’m not normally this obsessive & I do really like MONBS & Principality, even if they are a tad old fashioned. If it helps, and you have digital access to the mons.com website (or app?), then you can send them a digital image of your signatory form via secure message. I asked and they said they would be happy to accept this.0 -
Re Monmouth maturity. My RS should mature today. It hasn't done yet. I've withdrawn £3300 today to fund my feeder account for next month, and I've received the money, but the account still thinks its a RS with £3600 in!0

They do seem to require ID of some description although you supposed to be able complete the form if you don't have photo ID, sadly I've not managed to yetHHUK said:

Progressive Building Society Online Regular Rainy Day Saver Account
ChewyyBacca specifically mentioned the potential cost involved if certified copies of ID are required. I can't remember what evidence I supplied when opening my account a couple of months back, but it certainly wasn't certified copies. I don't have an issue with submitting selfies, photos of passport, driving licence etc if necessary, and personally experienced no problems.0 -
I have no decent experience with Progressive tbh so can't comment with forms of ID for them.HHUK said:They do seem to require ID of some description although you supposed to be able complete the form if you don't have photo ID, sadly I've not managed to yetProgressive Building Society Online Regular Rainy Day Saver Account

Not having any decent experience with banks and building societies recently though.
Virgin Money was a struggle to get their Regular cuz online form doesn't let you do the address history, plus phone calls, I was compensated & got the account.
Applied for a Monmouthshire instant access, got told my address wasn't recognised or something, got told I'd have to complete address form & give ID, then got told no just need to complete the form.
Most recently can't complete Progressive 's online form & all Progressive say is try again and to make sure I complete all sections, erm I did your site said to contact you.0
