Basically got caught speeding, 42 mph in a 30 zone (4 am), in a replacement van for wotk. This was on 16 Feb this year.
It matters because the intial NIP is sent to the RK which in the case of a replacement van could be a lease/hire company, they would return the S172 naming the driver who would then receive a new NIP/S172 in their name. The 14 day rule only applies to the first NIP and it is usually a lot longer for the 2nd NIP to be issued. If this is the case then it would be highly unlikely that the new NIP/S172 would be issued within 6 days of the offence.
Don't confuse the NIP with the S172 that is on the reverse of the NIP. If you are stopped by the police then there is no need for the S172 as they have the details of the driver.

I think the point people are making is that the offence was on 16/02/20 yet the OP has had time (in the 5 days thereafter) to have received paperwork (S172?) sent it back, and worried that there has been no reply. Is the date right?
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The details are passed to the ticket office and as the 14 day rule no longer applies it can be quite some time before the driver receives details e.g. awareness course, FPN or plead not guilty and go to court.0 -
I suspect the OP meant to say that he returned the S172 on 16/2? Allowing 2 days each way in the post, expecting to hear back by now is a tad optimistic, even if they replied on the same day.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Why mention is was 4am? Like that makes it ok to break the limit?
And this is your third time being caught meaning you clearly speed a lot. I hope you don't comment when people speed past your house or past your child's school.
This is why forums can be so useless and pointless sometimes. Literary the opposite of what the OP was asking yet you still felt the urge. Idiot.0 -

>>This was on 16 Feb this year. I've had the paperwork from the Police, and admitted it all. Sent paperwork back, but so far have not recieved anything to date. I don't really want to contact them, as you can imagine.
What do I do if I haven't heard anything?<<
Why the heck would you question you have not heard anything in 4 days?
Caught 16 Feb.
Sent paperwork back When?
So allow 2 days to get there.
It's then weekend.
I would expect at least 1 to 2 weeks for any sort of reply.
But again OP has not said if caught by police of NIP received.
As usual here. OP begs more questions, but they have not been back. So there is just pure speculation till the next DRIP FEED comes along...😂Life in the slow lane0 -
No, there's no real need for any extra info from the OP. 42 in a 30 is in Fixed Penalty territory. They should get a fixed penalty in due course. If it hasn't arrived within a month, I'd suggest getting in touch just in case it has been lost in the post and the OP gets a summons where the penalty would be more severe, though since the non fulfilment of the FPN wouldn't be the OP's fault, if the OP asks, they will very likely fine at the FPN level. This would mean though that the OP would have to take a day off work. So my advice? Wait a few weeks then chase to save the hassle of a court visit. The chances of it having been forgotten are very slim indeed.0

In plain English, it's probably best not to be so judgemental.0
