Can you get refunds on Turkish visa paid for to use after the visa requirement was lifted from March

I have paid for two Turkish visas for my holiday starting on the 5th March costing £27 each. The Turkish government has just announced that UK visitors will no longer need to have a visa. I have contacted the Turkish embassy in regard to getting a refund on my now non required visas but with little success. Can anybody please advise me if there is a refund policy.

Turkey can advise suggest contact where you got the visas from .
It does not come under UK laws or rights .

You'd have to ask the Turkish office where you bought the visas.

There's been 3 identical threads started on the Overseas Holidays board.
A couple of people who have paid by c/c asking about chargeback.

I suspect not, but in any event I can't see any consumer rights coming into play here.

Unfortunately, I’m in the same boat, I purchased 4 visas! I used the Contact Us page on the Turkish Evisa site and received a reply stating ‘All visas issued prior to 2nd March are valid and that evisas cannot be cancelled, changed or refunded’!!! Extremely unfair and unhelpful as we don’t travel until April but nothing we can do about it. I also spoke to my credit card company and they said no to charge back so unless any officials step in and embarrass the Turkish Government into doing something then I’m afraid our money is wasted.

Why would they be embarassed? More to the point, why did you by your visa so early?

People need to stop looking at this as a negative. You haven't lost anything as the visa was required when you booked your holiday, so factored into the price. Just think of it as a cheaper holiday should you return again in the future.

I'm sure they'll be mortified...
They'll probably also realise that if they start refunding people, they'll open the doors to lots of claims.

Many websites and forums recommend that you get any visas, visa waivers etc sorted out before booking any flights or accommodation just in case there is a problem either with the application being denied or delayed.
