Congratulations on the baby news and the paving slabs! 😃Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!2 -
That's wonderful news about the baby!
My brother's son was a Christmas baby and it made it extra special for them.

Thank you so much @Jessy103 and @Grogged, means a lot!
I have also just heard in the last few hours that I have been accepted for a new job, which brings a significant pay increase and no doubt pressure, it's for a large American cybersecurity company, using the same IT system I administer currently, but in a more strategic hands-off role. I am beyond delighted and have almost finished a bottle of wine all to myself!! Bad behaviour for a Monday night!!
Not looking forward to the resignation chat with my boss tomorrow, but it has to happen and I have my letter drafted!!5 -
Quick! Buy that lottery ticket! 🤣If it's not adding up, compound it!2

I am now into my last week of work!
I finish my job this friday and then I am straight into my new role on Monday morning. I have been in this company for around 10 years, so it is a nervous time for me, but a very good opportunity. I just hope I settle quickly and can be effective quickly!!
It will be strange finishing this role, in my house, then starting a new role.....in my house! Pros and cons I suppose... I don't think I will be in the office until most are fully vaccinated and things settle down more.
In other news, I have also set my student loan up for direct debit payments (rather than automatic deductions from my pay), to get it knocked out and to ensure I don't overpay, with their clunky old system.... I am ready to get rid of it, less than £2000 owed, so it will be gone by next May!
June update:
S&S ISAs vs Mortgage Debt: 63.09% (+2.67%).
Investments & Cash Vs Mortgage Debt: 81.76% (+1.7%)
Combined Gap to Mortgage Neutral: £17,734 (-£2113)

Good luck with the new job, as my mum used to say - never turn a good opportunity down.
Numbers ticking along nicely as well.If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
I am now three weeks into my new job. After being in my old job for around 10 years, where I knew everything inside and out, it sure is a (slightly intimidating) culture shock to move to a company 5 times the size, in a completely different industry, as well as role. Thankfully my team all seem pretty friendly and I have a good overall feeling about this company.
I know it will take time for me to start to feel useful to the company and capable of having any sort of impact, but right now I am in the slightly anxious and "I know nothing" chapter... ! I suppose its because I got a decent pay raise in this new role that I feel pressure on myself to start delivering right away, but I know I need to learn more about the company and current projects to be able to do that.
In many ways, it's nice being at home, in a familiar environment as a starting point, rather than in a new office where I don't know anyone.
I bought myself a nice new desk which gives me more joy than it probably should.
Not much else to report on, I have been really enjoying the Euros in the evening, some great matches. Still waiting to get my paving down, sadly looks like it won't be ready in time for my son's third birthday party in a few weeks.
On the finance side, the stock market is moving along well and has given my numbers a nice little boost this month.
July update:
S&S ISAs vs Mortgage Debt: 66.02% (+2.93%)
Investments & Cash Vs Mortgage Debt: 84.88% (+3.12%)
Combined Gap to Mortgage Neutral: £14,605 (-£3,129)
