That 0.16% extra is 8p per year for each £50 in the account for the full year so the the gain in interest isn't much. Personally I'm happy to risk a paltry amount for the hope of winning £100.

"We just wanted to let you know that the Start to Save draw took place on 21 October 2020. You haven’t won this time – but you’re still heading in the right direction. That’s because by tucking away enough money each month to qualify for the draw, your savings pot has been given a healthy boost.  "

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."

I wondered why I bothered with this savings account but to my amazement I've also won a £100 in the October draw. Yippee.

Just for the 1% interest this account is acceptable.
The odds of winning the £100 are actually quite good for an extra bonus.

Can't see it lasting with the BoE rate as it is. Expect it to be pulled or interest rate dropping shortly.
  • I live in Northern Ireland and so Nationwide say I can’t open this account (something to do with our antiquated gambling laws). But it got me wondering how I can invest in premium bonds, which work on the same principle. Not sure if anyone knows the answer?

I was thinking of also having a go at the Members Bond as well but the interest rate is only .5% fixed for 18 months.
You stand to win ten grand though.
