Why no try asking in the correct forum? This board is dedicated to a company that went belly-up some years ago, taking a lot of peoples money with it.0

It's because of the hack experienced by Travelex late last year - Tesco, Sainsbury's and a lot of others use Travelex for exchange rates and probably to supply foreign currency, Euros being one of them.
Service is not yet fully restored - they are having to go back to pen and paper instead of pushing buttons on a keyboard until full service is restored.

And if you really need it get some out when you are there and pay back quickly (keep a zero balance whenever possible so yuou can pay off unbilled things (I think). And yes some machines have started to charge, hey in some places they all do. And that is life, but I find the local unknown (to us at least) banks tend to charge way less than say santander etc.1

Get a Starling account debit card - they take no fees at ATMs in Euroland (worldwide in fact) - although the hole in the wall owning bank may impose such.Metrobank debit card is also similar in Eurozone - if you live conviently close to a branch you can get a card over the counter - remember take relevant paperwork, check with them first, passport and utility bill is likely enough. If you are going to Spain (including Canary Islands) I would recommend a Santander debit card - their Everyday current account is ideal - no fees if cash taken at Santander branded ATMs in those locations. This account has no strings such as direct debits - other than it needs funded £500 monthly to enjoy this deal - these funds can be deposited and withdrawn during the same day with minimal time lapse. It's also a good account for normal everyday use, as the title suggests.Their 1-2-3 Lite also has this benefit and there is cashback for direct debits used to pay utilities bills and communications accounts. The £1 monthly fee is easily covered by these.2
