Next time come to us. You were used.1 -
I think the PPC has already been named online - I googled.
Sorry you were used in this way but don't beat yourself up. Glad the charges were paid for you, at least.2 -
Here is one .... https://parkingpatrol.co.uk/2020/02/21/judge-rinder-finds-in-favour-of-ipc-member-over-unpaid-pcns/
For those new to this, the IPC is a scam set up by the infamous Gladstones Solicitors designed to attract scammers. What you read above is pure propaganda by UK Parking patrol who given their day in a real court would fail3 -
Rinder, on his way to becoming a criminal barrister, would have had to study civil law, including contract and tort as a specific module. So he should at least have some familiarity with it.
But as others have said, this is a TV entertainment show, which bears little resemblance to a real County Court. For example:
- There is never a gavel on the Judge's bench in a real court - you only see those in auction rooms.
- The Judge is not robed, they wear ordinary business dress.
- The Claimant is usually on the Judge's right hand side, not the left as in the show.
- Members of the public can sit at the back, but any laughing, clapping etc. would be frowned upon and most likely result in them being ejected.
- The parties address the Judge from a seated position in a real County Court. It's only in higher courts that advocates stand to address the Judge.
- Rinder's belittling and sarcastic comments to the parties, if made in a real court, would soon have him hauled before the Judicial Appointments Committee.
- The only realistic bit is the Usher, they don't always sit in on the case in a real court, but when they do, their job is to hand up documents from the parties to the Judge.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.7 -

I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
