Hi All.
3 years ago i had a TalkTalk account for broadband. After a long period of poor services i decided to leave. I wrote a letter and followed this up by a phone call 2 weeks later. This was in March 2017 and i was advised that final payment would be taken in May 2017. Now after almost 3 years i have recieved a letter from Lowell claiming i owe £195 for the period 4th of June 2017 to the 4th of October 2017 including a cancelation fee. They also state that the account had been renewed online in October 2016 and that thier are no notes on the account to terminate my services.  I have asked for proof of the account renewal as i have no knowledge of this but they say it is my responsibilty to provide proof of this, as this was almost 3 years ago i no longer have the original letter to cancel the account nor do i have the proof of postage now. Lowell say this is not covered by the CCA1974 act and they do not need to provide any agreements or signatures. I still have no idea how this account was renewed in October 2016 as they claim.
Its not the first time TalkTalk have made errors on my account.

Can anybody help with this please.

Have you tried logging in to your old Talktalk account to see what it says about the status of your account?

Send Talktalk a Subject Access Request, (SAR).

This will be my next step, but will this explain why the account was renewed in October 2016 (if it was) without my permission? And if it was will it prove it was not me that did it?

Until they reply; you won't know the answers.
