Eroneous Eversmart bill received this week
Just wondered if anyone else has had this.
I have never been an Eversmart customer.
I received a bill from Utilita on Friday 14th Feb (branded eversmart) asking for £148.69.
It just refers to a balance brought forward - no details of meter reads, services suppplied etc. It also says way to pay are on the back, and the back is blank!
It refers to dates from April to November last year, I have paid bills from my existing supplier for that period so I'm quite confident this bill is an error and can easily prove it if needed. I did go through a Solarplicity/Toto/EDF shambles but that was all eventually corrected and reversed where appropriate, but Eversmart were never in that equation.
I've obviously contacted Utilita to dispute the bill but I was just wondering if anyone else has had such arbitary random bills. Presumably Utilita have been given duff info from Eversmart, though heaven knows where Eversmart got it from.

Hi,seems that Utilita took over Eversmart September 2019 when they went bust.0

I was an Eversmart customer. They stopped trading on 6th September 2019 and Utilita took over accounts on 11th Sept and started supplying my energy on 18th Sept. I initiated a switch as soon as I could and moved to Breeze on 28th Oct (yes it took that long to get away). I've subsequently received a bill from Utilita that didn't mention my Eversmart credit balance. I've challenged that and they replied (about 2 weeks later) to say my account is on hold until they can sort out the Eversmart stuff.
Your bill might be just incompetence but it sounds almost like a scam. However it's an odd scam that doesn't mention how you should pay.
I'm wondering what you mean by 'branded Eversmart'. My Utilita bills are obviously from them, only their name appears and while more bill payment details are on the reverse, the front page mentions payment by something called BillPay. Has your erroneous bill maybe come from the Eversmart Administrators?
Still, you've done the right thing and passed it back to Utilita. They'll respond eventually.0 -
I received an Eversmart statement yesterday with a covering letter from Utilita. The Eversmart statement was on Eversmart headed paper and included their old Manchester address. Everything was in order as far as I was concerned as I had been an Eversmart customer transferred to Utilita and the meter readings were all correct. This was the statement Utilita should have waited for before issuing their own made up bills in January. It would have saved both of us a great deal of time.
Fascinating to read that the OP was never an Eversmart customer.0 -

I'm interested in the period covered by the Eversmart statement you received. There are three periods, I believe. One is the period up to Eversmart stopping trading - 6th Sept. Next is the period from 7th Sept until your supply started with Utilita. Thirdly, your bill from the day after that Utilita supply start date until you left Utilita (if you did indeed move away from them). Surely we should expect to receive Eversmart Administrator bills for the first and second periods and a Utilita statement for the third?
So, can you tell us what period your bill covered?

Hmmm, this new forum doesn't seem to work well. My last post was supposed to quote Stratus but my message has been incorporated in his quote, making it look like he/she said all of it.0

If you put the cursor in the wrong place or delete back into the quote you don't seem to be able to get back to "white" space to enter unquoted text. The only way I've found around this is to go back to the previous page re-select the message and "quote" again.JohnB47 said:Hmmm, this new forum doesn't seem to work well. OK. Here goes.
My last invoice from Eversmart was dated 6th September 2019 and covered the period 7th August to 6th September.
The Eversmart invoice sent by Utilita (received yesterday 15/02/2020) was dated 18th September and covered the period 7th August to 18th September.
There was an overlap of dates but all the meter readings on the invoice tallied and my Eversmart billing to 18th September was correct.
For the sake of completeness I can tell you that I left Utilita on 16th October 2019.
The bills received from Utilita were:
2nd Jan 2020 - £129. This did not include any of my Eversmart credit and used a ridiculous opening reading estimate. I paid Utilita what I calculated I owed them.
28th Jan 2020 - £60. This still did not include my Eversmart credit but did at least include my supplied opening reading for 18th September 2019. It also didn't include the payment I had made which I calculated I owed.
5th Feb 2020 - 22p. This included my Eversmart credit and payment I had already made. My error was in missing out one day's standing charge. It appears on changeover day (18/9/19) I was charged a standing charge by both Eversmart and Utilita.
Yesterday's final Eversmart invoice from Utilita should have been the first thing I received from them. Their 2nd Jan and 28th Jan invoices were just wasting everybody's time as they were using made up figures and ignored the Eversmart credit balance.

Just a bill with no details of what it relates to?
Who is your actual supplier?
You say you have never been an Eversmart customer, but have you ever been a Utilita one?
Is there a customer number on the ficticious bill and does it look anything like the one from your current supplier?0
