Next day delivery not arrived

Hi there! Wednesday afternoon my laptop of around 5 years broke though is still in somewhat functional condition. Immediately ordered a new one online with the help of my parents and got £30 next day delivery. So far so good. Thursday comes around, and I get an email in the morning saying my delivery has been dispatched and will be with me shortly. I then proceed to spend the whole day with no updates, staring out my window looking for a delivery that never arrives. Housemate convinces me to calm down and give it one more day. Okay sure, maybe it’s a long drive.

Today comes, no updates and no delivery. Ring up the company to get told it’s been dispatched and that it had no tracking data so I’ll just have to wait until it arrives. No apology and told I’m not eligible for a refund as the delivery time is an ‘expectation not a guarantee’. At this point it doesn’t look like I’m getting my laptop so I’d like to know what my rights seeing as my spent £2,000 on it and at the moment I’m inclined to think someone down the chain has sticky fingers. Thanks in advance guys!

Edit: Would also like to mention when I first ordered it I was told I’d be given a time slot for delivery though when Thursday comes round I was told no time slot could be given.
Edit 2: Okay just went back to the website and it looks like they don't consider Saturday or Monday a working day for delivery. Seeing as this could mean the earliest I get my laptop is Tuesday (So standard delivery) will this effect my claim?

If you get an email on Thursday morning saying it's been despatched as next day delivery, I'd expect to receive it the next day i.e. today, not Thursday.
  • Sounds odd. I ordered some shoes for the missus for Xmas and paid for next day delivery.
They didn’t turn up the next day and the company refunded the postage without any drama.
For a 2k laptop as above, I would at least expect them to have tracking data.
Check the exact wording on the order,  iif you have paid for next day delivery which wasn’t fulfilled then you should at the very least get the difference between that and standard delivery refunded.

You misunderstand, I ordered it Wednesday being told it’d come Thursday. Email on Thursday says it’s been dispatched to arrive Thursday.

Any advice on who could I speak to regarding this? The company has just fobbed me off and told me I’m not entitled to any compensation.

Yep, tried accessing it on the site and it just gives you a very basic ‘Your delivery is dispatched’ but nothing else.

Well officially it’s not a lost delivery yet but ideally I’d like compensation for not delivering it on time.

Ebuyer via debit but I’m not sure if it’s an issue with them or the courier. They’ve also not told me what courier they’re using.

Ebuyer don't appear to offer a £30 delivery option, the most expensive option for next working day is £7 although it has a cut off time, so are you certain you purchased from the genuine Ebuyer site rather than a scam site? As above if I paid for next day delivery and got a dispatch notice the next day then I would expect it the following day. Also if it was actually from Ebuyer are you certain it was in stock in their warehouse? It does state that items shipping from elsewhere (i.e. direct from manufacturer) will not be shipped as quickly as in stock items.

I had a quick look at Ebuyer's delivery charges and I cant see a £30 delivery fee.
A nearly 2 grand laptop I looked at had free delivery if ordered by a certain time to get Saturday delivery.
What was the £30 you paid actually for?

Definitely the Ebuyer website. All their stuff too and within the cut off time. Item was in stock too and got verified more or less immediately. Thing about the dispatch notice was that it was coming for Thursday, not the day after.

As with the other person I’m not sure what to say in regards to the delivery fee. One laptop I looked at was for the same price with free next day delivery, another £7 and this one £30. Keep in mind I ordered this Wednesday with it specifically saying it’d come Thursday and was told it would come Thursday.
