NOW broadband

My contract with Plusnet ends 03rd March, they are offering LRS £197.88 up front, (£16.49 per month), for 12 months.

Am looking at Now broad band, via TCB , (£80.00), https://www.topcashback.co.uk/broadband-compare/

Effective monthly cost: £11.33.

However there seems to be a lot of bad reviews for Now broadband. Any thoughts on joining them?

Are you out of contract with PN for broadband as well as phone? If not, moving your phone line to a LLU provider (which Now is) will trigger a b/band disconnection and early termination fees. I've had a similar conversation with PN and the only way to avoid the ETCs seems to be to move to a BT line for phone rental , and even then I would lose my current broadband tariff .

I & a friend jumped to Now BB late last year, similar offer but not via cashback [never knew about that :( ], no problems at all apart from first day when it dropped in & out a few times

  • Been brilliant for me personally 👍, better speeds Than my previous EE and plusnet contracts, and doesn’t drop out

The biggest potential saving from a switch to NOW Broadband you don't seem to have taken into consideration is the included free Anytime Calls package (normally costs £8 per month). If possible make sure you select an install/start date of 4th March when ordering.

I stand to be corrected but I don't think Plusnet have charged the £30 broadband disconnection fee for moving to a LLU provider since 1st September 2018. See the posts from Plusnet staff in these threads.

I'm trying to sign up to the NOW deal but I cannot progress online - after putting in my postcode & phone no. I get a message that something's not right, & to phone them.  Don't want to do that, as then there'd be no cashback.
    Anyone else had this problem?
  • It may be something as simple as there being no space/lines available at your local exchange but you will never know unless you phone them. You don't have to proceed with the order over the phone but at least you'll know the reason for the online error message.

I did see the point re Anytime Calls, but it does not bother me as I make very few calls using my landline.
I have decided to risk it and my start date is 02nd March, so I will cancel my DD with Plusnet on the 01st March, as I paid upfront they have no comeback on me for any more monies.

I switched from Sky to Now Broadband and phone about 3 months ago: no difference in the service whatever, which is what I'd expected.
The only feature lacking on Now is the Sky call screening/blocking facility.
I also dislike the fact that you can only pay by  CPA on your debit or credit card, not by DD, but for a £180pa saving, I can live with that.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Did you get the cashback when switching from Sky to Now?
