    Recently switched to Natwest myself.
IMHO, if it's your main bank account, switching can still be somewhat disruptive. Direct debits and standing orders are automatically transferred but recurring debit card payments and saved card details are not. For example I had to telephone Aviva to update my car insurance payments - couldn't do it online. Plus you've got waiting for a new card, setting up new online banking, and suchlike. So I think it's not something I'd want to do more than once a year personally.
  • I've read the switching t&c's a couple of time and can't see any mention of having to switch any direct debits.
Have I missed this somewhere or can the switch just be st or dd free?
    thanks

If you get the reward account you'll want to have two direct debits (regardless of you switching them or not) but it's not a condition of the offer.

If you switch to a Nat West Select account do you need to have 2 direct debits?

No, you only need to pay in £1500 regardless of which account you open.

I've had a Nat West account and received the switch incentive in the past but cannot remember whether this was in 2016 or 2017. Since I closed the account I don't have any of the old paperwork/debit cards anymore so, how can I check this out?

I am pretty sure 2017 switch offer was the first offered by Natwest for at least a long time hence why they refer to 2017 not 2016
  • Out of curiousity, does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to open an account once you provided your identity?

3 to 5 business days, as they are (obviously!) swamped atm.  If you call them on the applications number they'll tell you to not even bother calling before the 5 business days lapse.
  • I want to switch to this but I don't really want to close my other Halifax account, does anyone know if I can open a normal current account with another bank then switch that immediately to Natwest? I've read reports of others doing similar but just wanted to see if anyone has done it for this purpose.

    Thanks
