  • Payday today and I've allocated all the money into the relevant pots and I'm ready to start this month strongly!

I'm feeling motivated to stick to the budget and put a little into savings. I think the biggest overspend at the moment is on food. We've been too laid back with the takeaways/ easy meals when we're tired, and the amount of fruit the toddler eats is insane! I hadn't realised how expensive feeding a toddler would be, particularly with the amount of food waste.

This morning he ate 2 bowls of porridge, a bowl of fruit and a piece of toast before he was full, yet the other day he survived on an apple and a slice of plain bread. Toddler logic!

  • It’s been a pretty good few days, except being caught out by my son’s chickenpox vaccine. I thought I’d paid for both jabs when he had the first one, but I hadn’t so an unexpected £70 spend yesterday 🤦‍♀️

Usually this would send me into a spiral of spending as I’m not in budget now so who cares?! I’m trying to be mindful of old habits and stick to the rest of the budget, it just means £70 less savings this month.

  • My plan for August is to implement some NSD's although we have 2 weddings to go to, so need to buy cards, presents, drinks on the day etc. At least I'm organised now and can keep to budget.

Son's first day at his new nursery today and he was a bit emotional at drop off, but keeping my mind busy with work, budget planning and doing some batch salad making for work lunches this week.

    Happy Monday!
