I hate to say it but your experience of Barnsdale reflected ours. We got married there so always want to like it but no longer worth the drive. If I want to look at neglected weeds I can walk out of the back door. Shame, because it used to be lovely.
France for coffee beans, sounds more exciting than it is. Ferry is cheapish mid week (c£60) and we stay within an hour of calais in three bed self catering places that we find on the booking interweb. A hotel room might actually be cheaper. Lowest budget was £150 for two nights inc the ferry in a park home type place for the four of us.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

France will definitely be on the visit list in the long distance future. I particulary like Brittany.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

We are saving it to go in a bakewell cake.

Lovely to see you posting again M_F. I did just write a nice large post about my lack of gardening skills and lost it so I'm in a grump
I'll be back later.

Oh dear @Naomim,
Ive come back on expecting to have a lovely long post about gardening and skills (lack of I doubt).
My "skills" are mainly self-taught. I remember parents being gardening mad when I was younger but it didn,t interest me. I got into more and more as soon as I had a garden and the bug bit! Unfortuately the skills bit takes time and in my case alot of wasted money in previous gardens!! Still I now have a lovely little patch to share with Mr M_F and we are enjoying making it our own.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Hello Diary Reader/s (don't want to presume theirs more than one at any given time!).
Not to much to report I'm afraid. Mr M_F and I are still working (not essential workers) but apart from that and the excitement of getting a delivery slot with Mr T naff all else is going on,
The last week I have made a conscious effort to cut meat out of my diet. I was veggie a few years back but gave up because of health reasons. Hopefully those health reasons are fixed now so I decided Sunday I was starting off with cutting meat out.
Meals so far this week have been
Sunday
Breakfast: Fruit and Yogurt (thanks to Mr M_F for having a better memory than me)
Lunch: Veggie Fingers in a salad wrap with mayo, piece of HM iced sponge.
Dinner: Home made nut roast -thanks @Foxgloves I used the Cranks recipe you recommended in their cookbook and added roasted butternut squash, broccoli and roasted peppers. Was blooming lovely! Another piece of Iced Sponge oops!
Monday:
Breakfast: Wholemeal Toast with Marmite no spread as usual, Banana mid morning.
Lunch, Mediterranean Quiche, Salad & French Dressing, Mixed berries & Yogurt.
Dinner: Jacket Potatoes, Cheese & Coleslaw and Salad no dressing, Piece of Iced Sponge to finish it off.
Tues:
Breakfast: Wholemeal Toast with Marmite no spread as usual, Banana mid morning.
Lunch: Mediterranean Quiche, Salad & French Dressing, Mixed berries no yogurt.
Dinner: Freezer Breaded Cod, Chips & Peas, No pudding as had drunk a glass or two of wine.
Weds:
Breakfast: Wholemeal Toast with Marmite no spread as usual, Banana mid morning.
Lunch: Wrap with sweet potato falafel, salad and mayo. Mixed berries no yogurt
Dinner: Cashew nut stir fried veg with noodles and chowmein sauce. Prawn crackers - Too many chocy biscuits
Tomorrow you can rinse and repeat breakfast and lunch, dinner will be M&S vegetable kiev (not the plant kitchen, dont like soya or quorn type stuff!) freezer veg and some kind of potatoe accompliment depending on what we fancy.
Friday will be the same breakfast, maybe a cheese and onion or cheese and chutney sandwich for lunch with grapes if all the berries are gone and Veggie curry for dinner with rice.

I can recommend Thrifty Leslie’s nut roast, really easy, cheap to make and delicious 👍 Freezes well too. She has a website and FB page.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
