Very has ruined my credit rating

  • Unfortunately Very has a great deal of form in these matters. They are one of the worst companies in Britain (along with British Gas) for maliciously trashing people's credit rating. You just need to look through these forums to see numerous cases similar to yours.

You could call them and haggle - I'll pay what's owing immediately, provided you de-blacklist me. It probably won't work, but it's worth a try. Thereafter, never use Very again, and badmouth them at every opportunity - like I do.

Whilst i don't like Very as they destroyed my credit file too due to my own stupidity albeit... you should have paid the bill.

You said they've emailed you telling you to pay so you should have paid it. They could have also given you a breakdown over the phone of what the payments were made up of.

You got the goods and are now using the online account as an excuse not to pay for the goods.

I imagine they only "maliciously trash people's credit ratings" when they don't pay though....

If you pay for the goods you've purchased, on time, or as per agreement, then very (sic) unlikely to be an issue.

The trouble is I don't know what I owe as I can't log 8n and have had no statements.
I have phoned them numerous times. I am always nprinised a fall back which never comes. I just get fobbed off. So I don't know what I owe. [...] I don't trust them to tell me the correct amount

At some point you should have asked Very how much you needed to pay and paid it.

It appears you've allowed this matter to rumble on for nine months without any attempt to make a payment.

Very almost certainly records calls and will have details of your interactions with them.

Details about how to make a complaint to Very here.

As it's a financial product you can ultimately take your complaint to the FOS, however you must first go through Very's own complaints process as outlined in the leaflet I linked to previously.

Well, maybe, but there are loads of issues with Very. Witness the large number of complaints on this forum; many more than any similar merchant.
  • I do tend to pay things in last minute.

I have a similar story with MBNA.

I am stoozing so I do go through a lot of different credit cards. Practically every card I had an account with would mark the pay in date as the day I initiated the faster payments transfer. Because according to the industry standard, they should receive the money within 2 hours.

Well MBNA had this annoying habit of marking the money as received 2 days later. I missed the due date, even though I sent the money the day before it was due.

Isn't this a case where you have an annoying habit of leaving things to the last minute and then complaining when it bites you?

I am a satisfied 'Very' customer. I just buy the stuff, then pay within 3 months, so that everything is both interest and fee free.

    I love my job

  • I'm pretty sure payment methods are listed on the shipping note that comes with every Very delivery. Which im sure includes methods such as Bank Transfer, Over the Phone and i think Post Office. So there were plenty of methods to pay it

    Can't say I've noticed.

However, their service is aimed at a certain type of person.
