should you settle with Parking Eye or continue to reject?

I was given a £60 / £100 parking fine by Parking Eye. I appealed. They haven't said yes or no. They just sent me an email saying I have 14 days to settle on a good will gesture of £20. I don't know why they would do this.

should you settle or take it all the way? it would be POPLA and court next?

They would do this due to the new BPA CoP dated January 2020 , have you read it ?

The choice is yours to make

If you appeal , then yes it's Popla and then court , so choose your battles wisely , a loss in court is about £175

If it was a non POFA ticket I wouldn't but if everything was full compliant I would pay.

Without knowing more nobody can really advise.

No-one should settle with PE unless they take you to court and win.

However, their signs leave much to be desired and many judges are throwing oit claims for that reason, read this

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

It sounds like you may have made a typo with the VRM in the machine?

Try a landowner complaint FIRST to try to force a full climb-down, if the £20 is still not out of time for another week.

I couldn't find anything in the changes that would explain why they sent a "good will gesture letter"

I havne't read the full 50 page document no.

How do I find it if it is a "POFA" or "Non POFA" ticket?

My main complaint was when approaching the turn to carpark, the parking sign can be obscured by trees, and signs for the premises. When the car is actually turning into the car park, there is a light just above and behind the parking sign, so that on a night time with no illumination from the front (as it was on industrial estate / business park), I can't read the sign. It's sort of like trying to take a picture of something with the sun behind them.

I don't recall ever seeing the sign.
