It sounds like the 'large electric radiator in the living room' a storage heater? If so, the idea is that it heats up overnight using the cheaper electricity and releases the heat during the day. That should work out cheaper than using your 'small heaters'.

I found that by turning it off completely, i used up half as much electric during the night per week than I do when it's on

That's good providing you don't end up using a fan heater or oil filled radiator when you feel cold.

and do get your Advocate to change suppliers for you. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a BIG mistake if you're then having to pay more to replace those cheap kWh with panel radiators, fan heaters etc using peak rate electricity.

A agree with Gerry1 - whatever you do don't use a fan heater to top up when the room goes cold.

OK we've established that I need a new supplier. That's fine, is it easy to do? I don't have an advocate any more

    Is lookaftermybills any good?

Don't use LAMB it is very easy to do your self.

Can you go back to my post #5 please. Have you had an email or letter from Robin Hood advising that you can change suppliers without paying any penalty ?

Have a look at your last bill as that will tell you if there is a penalty for changing suppliers before the end of you tariff. Even if there is it may be beneficial to change as the savings to be made look quite a lot.

It's a doddle. Start by trying

    https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/

    and

    https://switch.which.co.uk/

because they default to showing the whole market.

Just compare the annual costs. Ignore all the claimed savings, Ofgem's crazy rules mean they're meaningless.

Yes I've used mse to Compare prices and bulb is the cheapest

I'll contact Robin hood ASAP and find out, I don't mind paying a one off fee.
According to their website, there is no end date to my tariff so I'm assuming I'm not in a 12 month contract it's just a rolling 30 day I think

    I doubt it.

As previously stated, if the results don't include cheap suppliers such as Neon Reef, Avro, Yorkshire Energy you're not doing it right.

Ignore that advice at your peril.
