Received in the post today from debt recovery agency
Notice of debt recovery which relates to an alleged offence from 2014. Can the fine for the alleged parking offence be enforced/recovered after 5yrs plus?

The Limitations Act states six years for England and Wales. Five years for Scotland.
Where do you reside? What date in 2014 was the alleged infringement?0 -

5 years in Scotland
6 years in England and Wales
Was the letter from DCBL per chance0 -
The Statute of Limitations is an American act so doesn't apply. The Limitations Act 1980 is what you want.
As above it's 6 years in England and Wales, 5 in Scotland. There has been a spate of last minute letters going out recently.0 -
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, letter from dcbl, alleged offence at the end of 2014. Narrative on the reverse of the letter states "This case is not subject to High Court or bailiff action"
I live in England.0 -

Start reading the NEWBIES thread. Prepare yourself.0 -
How long is it until this times out? DCBL don't seem to know themselves. They've sent letters when it's already timed out for some people.0

Dozens of these old claims have been handed over to dcbl to trade off their infamy on the awful Chanel 5 programme.
They just hope it frightens people into thinking their debt collecting muppets operate in the same way.....they can't.0 -
The PPC won't recover it unless you pay it, so don't!
Tell us more about the event, the car park (retail? Hotel?) and which PPC?
And whether you appealed at the time, or ignored it?
What was the alleged contravention...if overstay, how many minutes?
Do they know who was driving - e.g. from an appeal you made?
DO NOT TELL US WHO WAS DRIVING IN YOUR REPLY, AND NO IMPLYING IT.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

DCBL ???? you see we are mind readers on this forum
Next you will be telling us they have added maybe £60 but more likely £70 plus VAT0 -
If you have moved house and DCBL have traced you to your new address you MUST take action to get the old address 'erased' from the PPC database, as I just posted on an exact same thread 2 minutes ago.
If you haven't moved house, just get a SAR from the PPC (see NEWBIES THREAD).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
