I have over the last week been looking at my energy bills as not only is my current provider putting up my DD, literally no reason as I have plenty of credit, but they are also putting up their prices, so this prompted me to do some research and finally use the Cheap Energy Club and I have just initiated a swap of supplier.
Seems like some good savings can be had, just on standing rates alone for Gas and Electric of near 20p/day going down to 8.4p a day which means I pay a standing charge of both Gas/Elec of £5.20/month with the new supplier compared to £12.68 with the existing one and the units for each are a little cheaper also so that should be approx £111 a year saved if all goes well. Its the first time I have used the service so I am hoping for a seamless swap over and no issues.
Hope you guys are all well and safe.MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159

Love the energy club. I reviewed mine last week but my current no exit penalty fixed deal is really cheap. Dreading next February when it expires! I also took a look at phone and broadband package and that’s competitive too. It’s like I’ve been on this forum for a decade!!2

We've just switch to 0ctopus, ended up using TCB as they had a cash back offer that beat MSE!
Felt weird doing an MSE on MSE, but it all helps.😁
It all went smoothly for us, apart from the annoying email barrage from previous supplier asking if we'd made the right choice and it was okay to come back, they'd forgive us, etc.
It did take the full six weeks to get our credit balance paid back, the switch itself was just over a week.If it's not adding up, compound it!4 -
Hope everything's still good at @regularsaver towers!
Been a funny old month (ok understatement), and the next two don't look much different...

I think so, mostly. I watched the news with interest yesterday regarding the second lockdown. It will be interesting to see how that goes, I cannot see it ending on December 2nd or whenever it was. I am not sure what this may mean for christmas for all of us.
I think my mental health is starting to suffer a bit too so I have been seeking some help for this. Not a lot has been going on really, I have done some baking, by energy switch is nearly done, I have been running etc.
Still undecided on carrying on with the OP this year or putting the money towards some home improvements I would like to do once I can safely have a workman in the house, whenever that will be lol.
I am taking an almost total break from anything this weekend and just trying to rest. I hope you and everyone else are well and having a bit better time than I.MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159

There's been a lot of discussion around mental health and wellbeing.
I think from talking to colleagues, family, friends and on MSE that what everyone thought was the light at the end of the tunnel is just the start of the next one...
I don't think we're going into it with the same mindset and the "we're in it together" spirit of the first 6 months.
I don't know how that will pan out, but still cautiously hopeful.
I think putting your OP to one side is sensible. It gives you options to either OP or refurb.
Hope you manage to recharge those batteries - we're doing a bit of the same.
Stay safe, G.If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
Hi Grogged, I think your tunnel analogy is a good one. I know there is starting to be mention now of 1 or 2 vaccines and whilst this is sort of good, I think we have a way to go before they are proved to be safe and affective.
I was just busy paying a bill and and the thought of not OP'ing this month got to me a little. I feel like I really want to, but I also know I would really like to begin finishing parts of my house so actual rooms are complete, rather than multiple rooms being sort of part way through. Covid and being vulnerable also makes these thoughts a bit more tricky as I don't believe it would be safe for me to have a workman in the house, maybe I am being overcautious I do not know.
Its hard isnt it, being single, having one income and one amount of money its hard to do everything. Early next year I will have lived in my house for two years. It kinda would be good to finish a room off totally soon..................
Hope you guys are all safe and well and a bit more optimistic and happier than I currently.MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159

Mmmm..........I just looked at my mortgage overpayment spreadsheet and my mortgage balance and I noticed with a small OP I could nudge it over the next level hundred and to level pence on the balance so I have done it, I couldn't resist. £22.97 OP made.
Updated stats in my sig. Even though its only a little one, it feels good to have done it and not miss a month.MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159

If it's any consolation, I've been in my place 5 years in March and it's in a much worse state now than when I started. I get bored of looking at things I'm waiting to have the money to do, and before I know it that wall suddenly has no wallpaper on it as I couldn't help myself🤦♀️!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
