Good evening all, I am delighted and pleased as punch I have just made Octobers mortgage OP of £123.49 which now takes me over my 1% target for the year! Woop. I have now paid £1178.31 of my £1159 target. Although I did kinda work that out wrong in a sense when I set it, as its 1% of my original mortgage, not 1% of what was left when I began in February this year lol.
Anyhow I have decided I will carry on and see where I get to.
I have made another purchase too, oh my! I have had to wait months to make it however, as stock has been very scarce. I have purchased a webcam! 1080p Full HD ones were coming in around £100-120 mark and I found out I could get a work discount of 25% so I decided to get a 4k webcam for a little future proofing so ended up spending £165. However, aside from it being future proof and it lasting me a long time, I can use it for work, and also personal use, specifically a hobby of mine that is now on zoom meetings for the foreseeable due to Covid. So for only a few £££ more than the full hd one I feel it was worth it.
We also had a family birthday last month so presents and M&S food for a meal in was spent but that is all budgeted for so pleased with that.
Now to have a quiet and slow month on the spending front, I cannot see anything on the horizon that I will need to spend anything on until the time comes for Christmas shopping. Fingers crossed anyway!
Hope you guys are all well, staying safe, enjoying your weekends and keeping out of the rain. Its wetter than an otters pocket here!!!MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159

regularsaver said:@coldcazzie I absolutely agree with you, and I know I have mentioned it numerous times throughout my diary here and I know you and others have given me tips on the balance of doing things. I guess I am still very much struggling with that as I am not relaxed about it if that makes sense. I am trying to go at things 100mph and full attack etc. Then I beat myself up when I spend a little money on something I want/need etc, which really isnt the best way to do things I know, but I am struggling to break out of it.
You've seen Rule 7 in my signature? I have a set of rules inspired by Gibbs on NCIS. Rule 14 is "Becoming mortgage free is a marathon, not a sprint." Nobody wins (or even completes) a marathon by sprinting 🙂Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

Have you tried lists to prioritise and organise your thoughts and goals?
You can then spend hours reorganising them...😁
(But that's an issue for another day!😂)If it's not adding up, compound it!3 -
I love your rules, my life has many rules too which is very Gibbs too! @coldcazzie
@regularsaver I’m not balanced right now either, I’m all about the mortgage. I’m not depriving myself but I’m being very care, trying for lots of NSDs, scrimping on my grocery budget and I think now is the ideal time with socialising being more of a challenge!3 -

Perhaps you could add one every birthday or maybe a new year rule instead of a resolution? 😁If it's not adding up, compound it!2

I hear you and I am trying to make the changes to be more balanced. Its going to be a work in progress I think and perhaps a slow one as I have been wired like this for a while. I would also like to spend some money on the house too, get the living room sorted to how I want it, so it is complete, and then I can enjoy being in that space and then take the other things around the house as they come. That might require me to take my foot off the OP pedal for a month or two.MFW - #133 - 2020 Challenge - £1230.67 / £1159
