hope you have fun using your breadmaker too belfastgirl :D I was trying to make sure I had everything in to start breadmaking straight away but it looks like I have ordered the wrong yeast online :( its in a tub. I guess it was supposed to be the sachet yeast but not sure? I will go & have a look in the shops before xmas day to check & pick up the right one!

Snap! Went to set mine up for nice bread in the morning and realised the yeast I have (and I had checked before the BM arrived to make sure I had plenty!!) is not suitable for bms. Grrr. Hopefully will pick some up tomorrow but I think the odds of coming in under budget are fading faster and faster :(

Hope you manage to get yours too sweetpea :)
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one belfastgirl! Hope your 1st loaf is a good 'un :D I'm not allowed to open my breadmaker till xmas day! :(
Will hopefully pick up the yeast later today & must try to resist buying anything else while I'm there! :o :rotfl:
  • did the last of my shopping last night but have not counted it up yet as had some presents to take out etc. will update later

  • OK! third time lucky.

Im at work so i daren't spend any longer on this, ive already lost an hour!!!

So! Was a happy bunny here!! Big Tesco shop done at 11 last night, was pretty quiet, no queues, got all i wanted.

I seem to be well under budget... with this in mind i will cut next month right down to £250 and see how it goes. I got a lot of christmas goodies i wont normally buy and used about the same value in tesco's vouchers and nectar points. I am keeping some vouchers for a magazine sub for next year, its a shame its not the gardening mag i usually buy but if i read that one instead it'll save even more money!!! :T :T

Thanks for all the inspiration guys, and the reminders of all the good practice Mum taught me. You're all my heroes!! :T :T :T

    Hi everyone
Just got back from the hell that is Christmas food shopping!

Had to queue for ages, but luckily managed to get pretty much everything for the rest of the month. Will pop into greengrocers for some lettuce on Xmas eve but that should be it. Can't believe how well I've done! Thanks everyone, the support on here makes it so much easier!

    Good afternoon everyone.
Well, I've been shopping to asda this afternoon to get some veg etc and it was not too bad, queue wise. I had read the post by the_cat before I went and was dreading it, thinking it would be 'heaving' with people.Thank God It was OK and they had everything I wanted... apart from.... I have read on a posting on mse that you can sometimes get fresh yeast from a supermarket, and if they don't actually sell it they might let you have some from their bakery. I asked at Asda today and they said-'the bread and other bakery stuff isn't made from scratch, it comes in frozen and we just cook it'. I was very surprised, because I thought that if you buy bread from a supermarket bakery, that it would be fresh fresh, not fresh cooked from frozen. Anyway-rant over. I spent £38.22 today (it should have been £39,69 but I had some money off coupons. better go update my sig

  • I did some sums last night and the monthly GC has to come down to £195 tops . I love a challenge though so not too depressed about it (yet!)

I keep getting urges to sow veggies. I've even got leftover seeds in the fridge so wouldn't even have to spend on the seeds. But I have to keep reminding myself that I'm expecting baby no. 2 at the end of March so I dunno if I'll really get much veggie tending done. I think it may be a case of chucking a few seeds in and seeing what survives.
Courgettes always seem to thrive in our garden so I guess we could survive on chocolate courgette cake this summer :)!

I'm hopeful of achieving budget this month, although it depends on whether we can go and stay with BIL for a few days next week as planned or whether SIL will still be too poorly (little cousin due next summer).

I am eagally awaiting my Mr T order, between 9 and 11 tonight.
After reading a notice about the Turkey not being on someones order, I checked mine and it had also been removed. I emailed Tesco and asked if I was going to get my Turkey and forwarded the comfirmation where the turkey was listed, and said that it was no longer on my order, why, and why could I not order it anymore?
They replied that anybody that ordered turkey would get it. So this will be interesting, as when I went to my order to add a few bits, (OK so I doubled it, but it is christmas), there was no sign of the turkey? Will we be birdless for christmas?
As My car is off the road, I cant just pop to the shops, as my arm is bad, at the moment, I cant lift so to carry it home is not possible either.....
Will it be vegetables for christmas dinner then?
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

    Hello All.
We haven't been on much lately due to it being the last week of term and we've been busy in school and pre-school.
We have quite a full fridge and freezer and a good supply of drinks stashed in the garage. I will be going to the butcher tomorrow morning to get our meat and hopefully can get all the fruit and veg from the local greengrocers so hope not to have to go to the supermarket.
It's both our children's birthdays on Christmas Eve (11 & 14) so I have some cakes to make but otherwise am pretty organised.
Have just updated our signature and it looks like we should manage to keep within our budget as long as we use up the leftovers.
Amazed by how quickly the £2 coins accumulate and would recommend this to everyone. We only started collecting a couple months ago and almost have £50. Unfortunately I had to pay the window cleaner yesterday and because the lid isn't glued on our pot I took two out! Tut tut!

Anyway, hope you all have a good Christmas

With the Tesco Turkey, someone said to me that out of a group of 8 of them who had deliveries 2 didn't get the Turkeys, they were those who'd amended the order after the deadline date for Turkey orders? I wonder if that is why?

Anyway, not spent again since last post but thought I would pop in anyway. I am debating shopping on Christmas eve, I don't usually but it's easier for me money wise this year if I do.

TheBees hope you all have a lovely Christmas and the children have a great birthday, wow, 2 on Christmas eve.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
