You are mixing up MIF and earnings thresholds.
The MIF is an amount that self employed people are assumed to earn if they actually earn less.

Yes you are right I certainly have got mixed up with MIF and CET.
So I’m still not clean what happens if a couple (with kids who need to get high housing benefit so need to be not affected by the benefit cap) earn only about £560 month?
Will they both have to keep going to job centre often and be pressured to work more and more?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
So what is the difference between CET and AET?
CET is £569.22 a month currently ((£8.21 x 16 x 52) / 12) and AET which is £541?

Is it that if a couple earns less than £569.22mth then they have job hunting conditionality?
So as long as you both earn over £570 month then you are exempt from the cap and exempt from job search conditionality?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -

My understanding is- Once household income exceeds the household CET no further work requirements apply.
- Between the AET and CET you are expected to do work related activity but not look for work.
- Below AET there is a full work search requirement.
Obviously the above are only relevant if no other exemptions apply.
I have previously seen a reasonably clear guide to how these thresholds work but am struggling to find it an the moment.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Did you read the link you posted yourself?In a couple household, if one of the adults earns above the household CET, both claimants are placed in the working enough regime, regardless of if they are both working or not.
EDIT: my apologies, that only answers half the question, it doesn't answer about the benefits cap. I don't know the answer to that.
EDIT 2: Also the conditionality threshold varies according to individual circumstances. It goes by the expected hours for a claimant's circumstances, e.g. taking into account childcare or casting responsibilities, etc. So the CET is not a set amount for everyone claiming.0 -

This is very high for some low income families in London.
