Santander faster payment failure - opinions please

Sorry guys but a few high ranking posters disagreeing with me and quoting terms and conditions does not change my opinion.
No-one has come up with a valid explanation for the payment failure after account being debited, all security passed and money awol with no communication for over 24 hours.
Notch it up as a victory if you want boys but this has been sufficient for me to progress my complaint to FOS [...] Hope to return to this thread with an update, whichever way it goes in about 4 months.
It was either a technical issue or else the payment was flagged up for manual in-house checks after the instruction was received but before the money was released. Santander will not be under any obligation to tell you whether it was the former or latter, or to offer any further details. The payment was completed within the advised timescale so you can't reasonably claim a financial loss. They may conceivably throw some money at you in recognition of your distress. Getting the FOS involved? You're tilting at windmills, but best of luck to you. Please do report back.: )0 -

As has been said umpteen times already Santander completed the transaction within the timescale agreed with the industry and set out in their terms and conditions. Your complaint will not be upheld and I suspect that you won’t update us.
The cause of this delay is largely irrelevant as Santander have processed it within the agreed timeframe. I’m not sure why you think you have a strong enough case to take this further.0 -
I have had a similar situation with Santander, with a large payment to a new payee.
The money was debited immediately from my account. It did not arrive at the destination within the "usual" 2 hours so I called up Santander. The payment had been flagged for additional security. I think at that point the money sits in a "holding account" whilst the security checks are undertaken.
Santander put me through to their fraud department to answer some questions. Afterwards, the amount being transferred was re-credited to my account and immediately debited, which seems to be their procedure after an additional security check.
I suspect your money went through the same process. The Faster Payment guarantee has until the end of the following business day for the money to reach the destination, which it did.
I was just thankful to Santander for looking after my money :beer:0
