I could complain your thread title is misleading - you forgot to add "but only if you agree with me" at the end.

Thus far nobody agrees with you but you still feel wronged.
That is a fair point but my unreasonable terms and conditions preclude your complaint. Do you see what I did there.

Difference is your T and C's are not available to view. Santander's are.

So again, zero grounds for complaint.
  • So to summarise, Santander completed the payment as instructed, within the expected timescale for the payment type.

OP, please stop taking banking policies as a personal insult. That way lies madness. Those policies will be at worst the product of bureaucracy or as a box-ticking exercise for the bank to fulfill its obligations, and at best will be there to keep your money safe. Far from being "unreasonable", you would be hugely grateful for these procedures being in place if you were ever the victim of an attempted scam or impersonation. *shrug*

Sorry guys but a few high ranking posters disagreeing with me and quoting terms and conditions does not change my opinion.
No-one has come up with a valid explanation for the payment failure after account being debited, all security passed and money awol with no communication for over 24 hours.
Notch it up as a victory if you want boys but this has been sufficient for me to progress my complaint to FOS in the hope that someone with some pertinent knowledge and experience will put me right with a feasible explanation or uphold my complaint. I believe there was a procedural error made at Santander that caused me unnecessary inconvenience.
Hope to return to this thread with an update, whichever way it goes in about 4 months.

You keep banging on about this 'unexplained delay' when, frankly, it is irrelevant. They completed the transfer within the required timescale - that is all that matters.

You had options to guarantee same day transfer, you failed to explore these.

Not good enough for me as clearly explained. Your comments are irrelevant to me so kindly do your moniker.

No-on said who the other e has come up with a valid explanation for the payment failure after account being debited, all security passed and money awol with no communication for over 24 hours.

At no point have you said who the receiving bank is. It could be that they are the problem.
Given Santander did make the money movement (debited your account) then they did their bit. If the problem is at the other end then they will not know.
As I also said, there were FP issues at a couple of banks last week. So it could easily have been caught up in that.

Sadly none of us actually know what happened as we do not have access to either banks systems and even if we did than we could not post anything on here.

I wish you well with the complaint and look forward to the update in due course.

I am surprised you can bank anywhere in the UK, as the same rules that have been explained to you ad nauseam apply to all of them.

Why did you post your question in the first place? You certainly weren't wanting opinions.

You are one of those bores who think they are always right.

Unfortunately this does not sit well for me for several reasons. Given another recent problem with Santander and the imminent 123 account interest rate drop I will make the escalated complaint and probably transfer my accounts elsewhere.

I suspect the people who will most pleased with this outcome are the Santander employees who have had to answer previous complaints
I will add that I have had my accounts with Santander for around 17 years. There have been some issues in the past but Santander have always explained themselves and actually made me a goodwill payment on one occasion.
