Isn't that called a bungalow?RHemmings said:
My sister has suggested that I look for a house where I can arrange things to live on only one floor. For this reason, when I get (hopefully 'much') older. Maximising living in one room - even more so.
We have lived in ours for 28 years, moving here when our children were very small. We didn't buy it with that in mind but because of it's lovely location and it's been a fantastic place to bring up our children. Now we're 'future proofing' to be able to stay as long as possible.1 -
We're seriously considering a bungalow. There are other advantages as well, e.g. some energy-efficiency gains are easier with bungalows. But, that's just one property type we're looking at.thegreenone said:

Apols for going off-topic on this thread a bit. (My fault).1 -

Thanks for getting us back on topic. That looks rather nice indeed. I hope the big flat part of the ceiling is facing north, and ready for a good helping of solar panels.
I searched to find the most expensive bungalow in all of Warwickshire. This is it, and it can be yours for £5,000,000.

I do think the interior, including the bold carpet in the living room, is definitely worth having a look at. It reminds me of the Hotel Abbasi in Isfahan.1 -

There's something faintly sinister about the interior of that bungalow. I could imagine it being Count Dracula's home when he could no longer manage stairs.

That could be a really lovely home with a bit of work.

Offers over £75K. Affordable. I guess a property developer will snap it up and replace the clock in the tower with one from Poundland.0 -
A million nicker to live in a flat above a shop? Between that and the five million quid Warwickshire carbuncle where one might smoke some fags and play some pool on the toy table in the snooker room, it seems living like common people is getting fantastically dear.RHemmings said:
This reminds me of a toilet I saw in Iran. The only entrance to the women's toilet was by walking through the men's toilet.user1977 said:Yes, it's in Soho, but a million quid for a flat where the only access to the bedroom is by walking through the only bathroom?

The most expensive bungalow, that I recognise as a bungalow, in Yorkshire appears much cheaper. And, more tasteful.
