I have friend living in that street - he's just told me that there's a problem with heave as (if you look on streetview) there were a large number of big trees surrounding the house until recently. The owner died about 18 months ago. He's also hoping that it's bought for a family home as a lot around him are now student HMO's.

Interesting web article from 1990 about these houses too http://www.sussex.ac.uk/geography/researchprojects/coastview/Fairlight/Fairlight.htm. there are some pics showing how big the gardens were in 1979. Most of that village will be wiped out if the engineers are correct and the see is forming a natural bay between two fault lines.
