In anticipation of e.g. selling to the neighbours when they want to extend.

Possible they come with other rights e.g. to enforce covenants, if these are the residual bits of the developer's estate.

Nope, I see it too.  As you look  at it , the rear right top half  back leg, with a little bit of front paw  is the snout, the bumhole is an eye and the tail could be an ear.

We argued so much about the name, our leader said "Right, I'm taking a book off this shelf blind.  Whatever the title is, that's what we'll be."
 It was 'The Family' published by Penguin, so bang went my idea of 'Sweatleg Funk!'
