    Last sold 2017 for £212K.

All that added, yet unused, space and glazing downstairs but average bedrooms and ablution facilities, oh how I love a doer-upper :#
    Two to choose from..

Funny how in the first one the bathroom has been done but nothing else in the house.

It's not served well by those dreadful photographs. Too many rubbish photographers thinking they are David Bailey!

I really like that one. Take away the quirky furniture it's somewhere I would be happy to live in - it's bright, fully modernised and well thought through. I could even life with the furnishings, apart from the two sofas!

Presumably the irony of having not one but two electric car sockets at the front, allowing an ostentatious display of eco credentials, whilst at the same time tacking on the least energy efficient extension known to man and heating a room partially open to the elements was lost on the vendors.  Some people.

They "bought the house in 2016" but there is no record in the previous sale history?

That's correct - if you look it up on the Land Register it appears to have been an off-market transfer of some sort, which means it doesn't show up on the free house price data.

    Completely agree.

I wonder if the energy crisis will see a steer away from the big open plan trend generally.  Those without a snug room to retreat to when less active in the evenings never appealed to me.

Absolute disaster of an interior with every klitsch mistake in the book. The only design choice they got right was the stripes in the lawn.

One mans meat (or woman in my case!).  There are too many dreary castle interiors which try to look back to the days of old, this is a new modern use of the big old spaces.  Now, if only I had that kind of money...a gal can dream.  :)

Don't get me wrong I also hate wood panelling, Chesterfield sofas and all the other twee nonsense. My taste is probably more "Euro modern" that many would find a bit minimalist and plain.  Don't get me wrong the castle is fantastic for the price of a 4 bed detached in some bits of London.

While we're here - why do so many people misjudge the size of their furniture? So many overly large 3 piece suites in a room 3m wide, and then a vast coffee table just to ensure grazed shins.
  • Here's a good one. This is a property we spotted, set up a viewing, but then all viewings were pulled as someone made a stratospheric blind offer to buy. Some weeks later we had a call from the estate agent asking if we were still interested, but they disclosed why the sale fell through as it was a bit major.

Knowing what I know now I can't believe the estate agent haven't disclosed the issue and I feel very sorry for the poor seller.

A virtual prize for the right guess :)
