...the height restriction does not apply to hedges. The only restriction is as per the high hedges part of the antisocial behaviours act, i.e. primarily 2m evergreen on a boundary.
If it were the case, then an awful lot of people would be on the wrong side of the rules.
I need to do some research into what the best plants are for this. Ideally want something low maintenance that doesn't have insurance consequences like trees do.
We well as privacy it should help reduce noise and maybe pollution.0 -
It would also provide much needed 'housing' for birds and other wildlife The more greenery, trees, bushes and hedging the better[Deleted User] said:YellowCarBlueCar said:According to...

Ah, thanks for that. I was getting the nuisance hedge thing mixed up. Apologies to all for the noise.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I've just had an old (and past saving) lleylandii hedge ripped out and replaced with yew. It will take about 5 years to get to the point of providing privacy, but fits the bill for low maintenance, and also had good wildlife value. Not especially MSE in terms of the initial cost, but with a potential lifespan of more than 1,000 years "it should see me out" as dad used to say![Deleted User] said:YellowCarBlueCar said:According to...

We have a cat so I'd prefer if it didn't attract wildlife because he will bring it indoors to torment it and we'll have to get it off him!Snow_Angel said:
