Don't really get what the fuss is. I've never lived in a house with a separate shower and bath in one room. Any bathroom has had either a bath with a shower unit or just a shower. Seems like an unnecessary waste of space to have both in one room. I grew up in a decent sized house, far from a micro house and we had a combined one in the main bathroom.

The house I own is small and just has a shower tray. I would prefer a shower/bath combo if I had the space. Aside from that issue I love my "micro house".

    Always wanted a house with a Butler's room :#

  • They're too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and they seem to end up as junk rooms a lot of the time.)
Not in this house.  We had an old, wooden conservatory replaced and use the new one as a dining room with sofa, chair and 2nd TV.  We chose solar reflective glass on the roof, a ceiling fan and underfloor heating as we couldn't have a traditional extension otherwise the lounge would've been way too dark.  We use it all year round and we get a good crop of sweet peppers each year!
We also use ours all year round.  We have a bungalow, but the conservatory is off the kitchen. We use it as a study/second sitting room but it is big enough to be used as a dining room if wanted. We also have the reflective glass and heat it in the winter.
(like you would any other room).  It's not too hot in the summer if you leave the doors open - but you have just given me an idea - we will get a ceiling fan!.

Why to British people seem to like combined showers and baths like that? They are useless, the shower curtain does little to stop water escaping. Don't really want a bath with you head right next to the crapper either.
Not a case of "liking". It's simply that there isn't room often for  a separate shower in an existing bathroom.
I would have though that was obvious, at least to most British people.
and if you hang the shower curtain inside the bath rather that outside it usually works fine to keep water escaping.

British micro houses for you I guess. I'd rather just have a shower and no bath, than a rubbish combined one.
It's not actually that small!  The whole thing comes in at 700 sq ft, which is a little bit larger than the average terrace.  It would be fairly easy to take the bath out and put a shower cubicle in if desired.

That is a lot of house for the money, but even if you gave it to me for nothing, I doubt I could afford the running costs.

    1) It's not just 'British' people who have combined showers and baths. I've seen the same in France, Spain and Portuguese properties.

    2) A shower curtain does little to stop the water escaping if you a) don't pull it across and/or b) have it hanging outside the bath. Even more amazingly, you can get these things called shower screens.....

    3) Unless you like bathing with your head on the taps the comment about having your head by the crapper is..... odd.

    4) I've personally lived in houses with combined bath/shower and ones with a separate shower. I've even stayed at a house which had both!!! I know right??? In the same room!!

    Mind.... Blown....
Yes, if you use a shower curtain correctly they work really well to stop water escaping.

I like the combination - it's an efficient way of using the space.

Unless you have the bath in a separate room then taking a bath always means that you are going to be near the WC - as others have pointed out, since the taps ae at the end closest to the WC in the property pictures (which is pretty normal, in my experience) you wouldn't have your head very close, but assuming that you keep your bathroom clean and put the lid down I don't really see what the issue is.  Or why it would be any better if you had a shower cubicle and were standing near the loo instead!
