Within spitting distance of a major route in to town and within earshot of a bypass. The hospital is a stone throw away, so plenty of noise from ambulances (air and ground)...

Close to a golf course though and the local Waitrose is just a short walk down the hill.

You were lucky, our phone cord didn't reach the stairs!  We perched on the windowsill if it wasn't too cold, probably a way to keep the phone bills down

We had a telephone seat in the hallway, under the stairs. When I was little we had a party line. Anyone remember party lines? It was a fab way of keeping on top of what the neighbours were up to.

Nice memory - in my house we children went from complete reluctance to answer the ringing phone when mum shouted to get it, to, as teenagers, rushing to get it first in case it was for us and our sibling said something inevitably embarrassing.

First time I have seen a property that features all of my pet hates in a single package. It looks like an airport terminal with an air sickness ante-room. I suspect that inside turf would hide vomit stains very effectively.
