I think you are looking at the wrong house on Streetview.  The apartment between the two houses has been there since at least July 2008.  You need to move further down the street to the left on the picture in streetview, match up the trees, gates and lamp post to get the correct house.

Oh yes, you’re right!

And I see a few other houses have done the same.  

 I wouldn’t agree to it if I had one of those houses!  Especially since it’s tiny flats they’ve built in the middle not just another house.

I wondered if the two big houses and little house were in common ownership at some stage. They are all the same colour and a bit run down.
