Either fat fingers from the agent or unrealistic expectations from the vendor

Sold for £380k in Jan 2014. Nationwide House price index would put this at £570k in Q1 2024
BUT they stuck an extension on the side in 2014 - so I can't see what is unusual about the asking price of £650k.

It was on for £6.5m yesterday they've since dropped a zero off and my post is now redundant
I'd better retract my offer of £3 million then , not such a bargain now.
The psychologist Robert Cialdini who wrote the book 'Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion' talked about a method of influencing people to think that a price is more reasonable than it is in reality. The method is to first introduce a number that is very large, and then the real number which looks smaller by comparison. It is said to be effective.

I'm not saying that this definitely is what is happening with these 'incorrect number of zeroes' prices, but as you can see the thought did cross my mind.

Just in case it isn't obvious, I know that @Patr100 is joking.

    [Changes Topic]

I know that 'guide prices' should be completely ignored, but I feel it is ridiculous that anything should be described as a 'guide price' when it's just utterly unrealistic. E.g. the following flat with a 'guide price' of £5000.

If they want to put those prices up, they should call them something different. E.g. 'random number we attached to this listing which coincidentally has a '£' symbol in front of it.'

    Similar theory in expectation management.
Announcement :" 60% of workforce may be made redundant"
    "Oh no!"
    "Actually figure is 30%"
"oh what a relief! Not as bad as we thought"
    (actual figure was always 30%)

I like little freehold properties, and this one looks a reasonable example. But, I'd prefer the end-of-terrace assuming that it's essentially similar. Cute.

Jesus.  Nearly a million for a terraced house with no parking on a busy road (little on street parking) and in need of full re decoration to stop me getting a migraine every time I walk in.

I used to live close by and hated it for being so busy and noisy and so over priced.

Number 8, which sold in 2018, has an interesting interior.

That’s the reduced price too! Started out at £1.2 mill! Road is even busier now thanks to the East Oxford LTN’s and removal of on street parking to facilitate bike lanes!

And to add to the general street "vibe"  to encourage local businesses,  the Private Shop is under new management.
