One of my pet hates. Island obsession and worse stools so you can eat next to the hob. We have an island and stools. I only use the stools to stand on when decorating. We sit on chairs at the table right next to the island to eat. Ps i didn’t put the island in.maladict said:

In defence of islands, particularly islands with hobs, the idea is that the cook isn’t alone but others can sit on the stools and chat to the cook. You can then all move to the chairs to eat. (Currently having a new kitchen with a big island).Green_hopeful said:

I'm not completely convinced that it's all the same carpet; there seem to be subtle differences in weave and colour, although the latter could be down to uneven wear or fading. Them being different is odder, if anything.joho said:Job lot of carpet almost everywhere.

On another note: let's all meet up on the page 1,000. Isn't it strange how we're all fully grown...9 -

It is Grade II* listed. There is a precisely 0% chance that permission would ever be granted for it to be demolished.TractorFactor said:

The next owner is unlikely to need permission to demolish, given that the place looks ready to fall down of its own volition. Ask yourself if the price seems too good to be true (it does) and then question why there are no clear exterior photographs in the otherwise comprehensively illustrated and purply-prosed agent's listing. Firstly, the rear aspect is delightful but the 'front', i.e. street side, opens straight onto the town's main thoroughfare and is directly opposite a kebab shop! Secondly, and far more importantly, I'd suggest that the scaffolding is the only thing holding the place up.peter3hg said:

Pretty it ain't. Beautiful building but one that's going to need either a six figure renovation or quietly putting out of its misery. Would it be mortgageable?2 -

(Though I think you're right about the scaffolding sadly)
