Hi, folks.
Today I got a letter about a parking ticket from Oct 2016 stating that a CCJ was 'recently obtained against me in the sum of £xxx'. It then goes on to say that they will accept £100 less if I settle within 14 days.
Background; I had stopped in a car park to pick my wife and daughter up from yoga and got a ticket. I refused to pay the fine, stating that I hadn't parked & the signage was poor etc. I hadn't heard anything for over two years.
I haven't had any letters from a court, either to give my side of story, which I'm assuming would happen before the judgement, or confirm that I have had a judgement against me.
The letter suggests I can confirm the CCJ with the County Court Business centre which issued the judgement, however I don't know which one supposedly issued the judgement?!
I've just paid £6 to check my record on trust online, and it says there have been no judgements against me.
What to do? Is it safe to assume they are trying their luck?
Any help much appreciated

You need to contact the CCBC in Northampton and check any reference you were given about any CCJ
I would also email a SAR to the DPO at CEL or whichever PPC it was attaching a copy of the letter and a redacted copy of a recent utility bill , to obtain all your data too , do that tonight , then phone the CCBC tomorrow
which PPC was it ?0 -
Which parking firm? Which solicitors (if any) are involved? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Sorry, too many acronyms I'm afraid. SAR?
The letter is from Civil Enforcement Limited. Signed off as from 'Legal team. Civil Enforcement Limited'.0 -
Just putting 'SAR' into Google brings up the answer in the very first article.Sorry, too many acronyms I'm afraid. SAR?
Additionally the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #5 provides a full list of acronyms used on this forum. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Sooo, I've been onto CCBC in Northampton and no, there is no judgement against me. Which is good news. Can I just ignore it, or should I push to have them drop the case?0

Double check on your credit file to see if a CCJ is shown.
If CEL has made a false statement, that is very serious for them0 -
This needs reporting. Trading Standards may well be interested in this. To falsely claim you have a ccj when you haven't is serious.
Report this to Trading Standards, the DVLA and the BPA.0 -
I can confirm what the above is true. Through our business we have had a lot of people come through to us with these letters and they have all checked with the CCBC and no CCJs at all.
5 in total from yesterday.0 -
Interesting BT ?
Then the OP should be requesting from CEL the court case number which court and date
Do I remember that BWLegal tried on this wheeze ?0
