Hi Sarah - do you have actual separate accounts for each sinking fund or have all the money in one "pot" but account for each fund separately?   You are very organised with your budget and spending.
It's nice to have some birthday money left - perfect for when you find something to treat yourself to.

I use starling for my sinking Fund and it has spaces where you can set up goals and name them and assign money to it. So I do that. I then have the same categories on YNAB as well to make it all tally. I used to just have one sinking fund but I found it difficult to know if I had the money for each category etc much prefer this way even if it's a bit more work on payday 🤣

hi Sarah!  I'm just catching up, happy belated birthday
You're doing so well with your pots and organisation, it makes me miss having individual pots for everything as it was so satisfying to have spends come out of a pot assigned to it!!!
Looking forward to seeing where the rest of the year takes you!

I did try just having one big fund but it didn't really work for me. Maybe when I have a better amount built up it will work better as I can just keep topping it back up but whilst I'm still building it having individual amounts works better.

  • Payday today. I've moved over the money for my pots to my Starling account and rest will remain in my current account for my bills and food and spends. Updated ynab with my budget for Feb. Amazed at how much I have managed to move this month. Usually its about £500 a month on debts or pots. But have got 715 to pots and 125 to debts. Something to he said for lockdown and of course council tax free month. Going to spread it over 12 months for next year I think and I'm saving up ready for my smaller water bill which is over 8 months as other is already over 12. Water and sewage are different companies in my area. Did think about saving for my prepayment card for my prescriptions and paying it yearly but worried I will forget to renew it whereas DD automatically renews it for me. Maybe instead of having 2 months off I'll work out what I should be paying those months if I did it over 12 months so I'm effectively in credit when the DD comes out. Think that's only other bill that's not 12 months after that or paid up front. My YNAB is due for renewal in March and I've decided I am going to pay for the year she review in a years time. Whilst I'm getting into good habits I find it very useful to have. Maybe in future I will go back to my spreadsheet and do it that way but for now I prefer ynab.

  • Ooo forgot to say, got my 25 from one poll and my coach ticket went back on to an old CC so requested that be sent back hoping be in my account on Monday. Hoping that means the refund for my football tickets will to just as smoothly.
Brought some bits on amazon for brother and housemate using my prime which they gave my cash for so have moved that into my saver to go with birthday money as used my amazon gift card I got. Still not sure what to spend it on. Complained to Groupon about a service I got and they refunded me the money but as credit to spend at Groupon. So may use it to by some presents throughout the year and put the cash aside from my present fund. Unexpected bonus.
