    Happy birthday!
A long weekend off sounds like a nice way to celebrate. I hope you manage to have some fun :)
Have you asked the people who run the course what sort of devices they support? I'm considering doing a distance learning course myself and in the online open day they were quite explicit that they support Windows and OS X, and you could do a lot with 'anything that needs a browser' but there were certain programs they wanted us to use that don't have tablet versions.  That could make the decision for you?

That's a good idea I will have a look into it thanks.

  • Thanks for the birthday messages everyone. Had a relaxing day, treated myself to a Costa this morning and will have a takeaway for dinner. My brother and his family have me a card with £20 in to pay for it and I've got a £25 amazon voucher as well to spend. Gonna hold onto it whilst decide what want to get with it. I don't want to just spend it on stuff for the flat etc as it was a gift.

  • Happy belated birthday Sarah! Definitely save the voucher for a treat for yourself.

How you finding YNAB? I tried it a while ago, but couldn't get on with it. I ended up creating extra 'pots' on my Halifax online banking. Seeing each pot's balance and the account name helps me from dipping into them.

  • I was lucky and my housemate paid for our chinese last night so saved in that as well.
I love ynab and use it religiously and intend to keep using it after my years free pass is up. It's made such a difference to way I budget and how think about things.
That's really kind of your housemate. I love Chinese, but can't had one for months. The lockdowns have definitely helped my waist and wallet.

I didn't really get to grips with YNAB and think using my excel spreadsheet as well just confused me. One of my besties using it and did try to give me a master class

  • It's payday on Friday. Although I usually follow my YNAB budget so it doesn't count until next month. Had quite a bit left over in my food shopping pot so have changed some of my spends (coffee syrup and Coke) to come from that fund so that can move some of extra I had moved into pocket money fund out of it and into my sinking pots. I have planned Feb on my YNAB as well and I'm deffo gonna stick to my plan of topping up my sinking Fund pots again. Seeing the numbers just feels reassuring knowing that they are there if needed. I'm going to do the same for March and then in April pay more off the card again. I should be in good place in terms of sinking funds and also have my new rates for a lot of my utility bills and create my new budget. Still have my £20 cash and £50 in saver from birthday. Not sure yet what to spend it on. Did debate whether should put it towards my new trainers I brought earlier this month and use that money to pay off some of the card. But I can always decide in a few weeks if don't think of anything.
