That seems like a good option if you are happy with an annual spend of £30.

Ah yes, I hadn't actually checked the detail of 1pmobile's offer. I can see that you're forced to top-up £10 every four months, so it's effectively £2.50 per month (which seems to me to be very good value, but perhaps not for ultra low users).

So unlimited minutes/texts for £6 a month. 25 years ago my mobile bill was £70 - £80 a month. Giffgaff being on the o2 network is a big plus as well over the others in my experience ,Voxi being the exception on the Vodafone network . When you talk about £6 a month it get's to the point where you have to ask is it really worth changing to network's where most people will get worse reception and data speeds?

You wouldn't necessarily need to change network to save money. Giffgaff piggybacks on the O2 network, and so does Tesco Mobile for example. I don't think it is the case that most people would get worse reception and data speeds if they were on the EE or Vodafone network vs O2.

Options for very light users seem to be Three, or ASDA.

My average spend is £1.25 per year (pretty much all SMS) and I have £6 of credit, so even with the price increase it will take me 2-3 years to run my credit down, at which point I'll see who is cheapest and switch.

Who are you with, I rarely use mobile looking for true PAYG that dont have to top up, I notice Quidco/TCB alternate offering £10 cashback when free sim ordered and activated.

I've still got £6 of credit with Giffgaff so I'm not looking to make a move until that runs out - should last me another 2-3 years.

ASDA Mobile looks like a good option for very light users, or Three depending on network coverage.

Since it's usually based on your location that's a peculiar thing to say about reception at least, Giffgaff aren't exactly renown for their data speeds (to say the least :( ) so a move would probably help in that respect.

Not the first time Giffgaff have raised PAYG voice calls. When the EU made mobile operators charge the same for roaming in the EU, Giffgaffs answer was to drop the EU charges from 16p to 15p a minute whilst raising UK charges from 10p to 15p a minute.

So really in the space of 4 years Giffgaff have raised PAYG from 10p to 25p. That's a 250% increase.

    That's a 150% increase, not 250%!

Well spotted Sherlock, albeit 2.5 weeks too late as that same point was made on 25-Jan. ;)
