If only they could get rid of the blasted wire power feed!
If you don't want the cable to be seen hard wire it to a switched fuse behind the dashboard running the cable behind the trim, the bit of cable seen is a few inches where it connects to the dashcam, not difficult to do took me less than an hour, or pay someone like Halfords to do it.

I've noticed the car insurance comparison sites are now asking if I have a dashcam fitted in my car. Does this reduce the price of quotes if you have it? I was recently involved in an accident and the other party tried to reject liability but my dashcam footage proved vital in getting liability accepted. It's only a little cheap kit but definitely worth while. Normally spending isn't considered an investment on these sites such as mobiles but since very few people now are honest enough to be accountable for their actions, I don't feel it's an option to not have one. What's everyone else's verdict on this?

Whether or not it directly reduces your premium it certainly can indirectly, via the sort of footage you mention. I wouldnt be without one and my next car is going to get it fitted by the garage before I pick it up.

Seems strange to criticise Adrian Flux after being covered by them for THREE years ??
In any case, I was answering the original question on this thread about what company makes car insurance cheaper if dashcams are attached
and Adrian Flux is the answer to the thread question. Quite straightforward.

There's no real need to get irritable because someone holds a different viewpoint from you. I wasn't a personal attack against you. Just a different perspective.

And a reasonable response that you strangely criticised. Looks like the poster discovered some issues with them, woudl be remiss not to point out.

I moved to directline because they only count accidents in the last 3 years while Adrian flux counted 5 years, I have 2 non fault accidents at years 4 and 5 so much cheaper with Direct line on this occasion.

Fits me well, may not for others. Also as mentioned their admin charges are high and they do not provide courtesy car if you have a fault accident, you need to pay extra for that, which directline do not. You never know if you might need it

it's pretty much impossible to police.

Surely it would be policed the same way as questions like "does your car have a tracker fitted?", i.e. if you are involved in an accident they will ask for dashcam footage and if it turns out you don't have a dashcam your insurance is invalidated.
  • A vehicle is a big investment, so it makes sense that you’d want to protect it in as many ways as you can. A dash cam can be a great way to monitor what goes on around your vehicle. Installing one could help you prove who is at fault in the event of a collision (leading to an easier insurance claim), and it could even help you become a better driver. And now having a dashcam could mean a saving, as some insurers offer customers discounts on their car insurance premiums if they have a dashcam installed.
