changing dns settings

Can anyone advise how I can change the dns settings on my router please? I don't want my youngster accessing harmful sites and I've read this is the best way to filter content. I've got a BT smart hub.

Not sure it's possible unless you have the Business version of the BT hubs/routers. I believe the residential versions are locked down and changing the DNS settings is not configurable.0

i don't think you do it by dns settings.
most providers give you child settings though, so goggle it for BT0 -

Thank you everyone for the replies, I had tried the parental control feature before but it wouldn't set up, however, I tried it again last night and it does now seem to have worked, except images still come up but not videos so I suppose it's better than it was and I can relax a bit!0

As an extra layer you could use OpenDNS for free, Either change the DNS servers on your DHCP settings or manually input them on the device.

BT do have a support forum. I;m sure someone can help if their blocker isnt working (its never 100% but if its not blocking most images something is wrong)

Thank you. It may be that it had originally blocked Youtube and I occassionally watch music videos on there so I had to allow that site.0 -

Thank you. Which one would you recommend, "Family shield" or "Home"?0 -
OpenDNS home gives you more customisation0

I found primary and secondary DNS in the advanced settings but there appears no way to reset them?0
