it's mainly bread that has been wasted, and rolls, egg custards etc .The latter went down greedy pooches hatch though, so technically not wasted 😂😂
I'm making the bottom of my freezer the bread space, so shouldn't be as bad going forward .
NM I'm only getting a bit of shopping this week, as have loads of stuff in .Will make celery soup later with the sad one in the fridge.
I'm only really shopping and cooking for me n Bonnie dog , but sharing the delivery slot with Mum, to keep her goingShe ordered gin last week , n pretended it was for a present
Mrs SD , it'd better be less than £9 This week!! 😯😯😯
Between them and the compost bin, there was very little food waste.
The only thing they wouldn’t eat was fish skin, plus, of course, meat bones weren’t given to them.
My failing is stock cupboard stuff going out of date, mainly things I keep in case of emergency.
Tinned stuff I will still eat if it’s past its BBDate, but as said previously, rice and flour I’m more wary of, and I have been guilty of putting those in the compost a few times over the last couple of years. ☹️☹️☹️
At the moment, I have three tins of baked beans ‘out of date’, but they are on the worktop waiting to be eaten.
I have started the habit of weeding out cans, jars and packets that are getting close to their dates and leaving them on the worktop as a reminder to eat them up!(I just lurve spiders!)

Pyxis dates on tinned stuff are nonsense they will probably outlast you. They will still be safe in 100 years. They may have lost their flavour by then. Rice is better for age. Indian companies will say on the pkt aged rice. How long do you think people kept things before there were best before dates. It's just a trick to get you to throw them out and buy more. The only things you need to worry about are things you buy fresh. I was thinking of not having a delivery this week but I will probably need veg. I do have plenty of frozen veg though. You do need to keep rice and flour in well sealed containers. Flour does go stale.6

Obviously, if a tin is dented, it might be a different matter, and if a jar lid has blown, I might think twice, but that’s pretty rare.

hi, morrisons! went in early on Saturday morning. just came back from doing elderly mans shopping for him and found more fruit and veg for pennies!! prepping for freezer next!4

I've done well with them before but never that well. They have a tendency to over order.

Think it must be down to the individual managers as we have 2 which we go to and neither of them ever have much in the reduced section and certainly not for pennies!

I'm still womanfully (manfully) trying to use up my yeast - please someone ask for some (dm me) I've got a spare 400g and a very ripe sourdough starter which I'd rather use - not very much kneading for sourdough so good if I'm not in a kneady mood.
