It'd probably be cheaper to fly down!
I checked, out of morbid curiousity. First website I tried it was the same price to fly as to train.

When going into York centre we use the park and ride.

Despite costing a king's ransom to park in Leeds it is still cheaper for us to drive there and park.

    That is ridiculous.

Also find all the different types of tickets very confusing.

Our water bill has risen by 50p a month which is much better than I thought it was going to be but nowhere near as good as a reduction.

Yes I think I'd be okay with a 50p increase too.

I'm very surprised by the reduction - I use a lot of water for work (or rather, it feels like I do) but then when I worked out how much water I've used over the past year for work it only came to 3 cubic meters, and that equates to about £4.50 of the annual bill that is paid by my business. Apparently over the last year we've used 10 cubic meters less than the year before, 13 if you include the water I use for business purposes not personal. That's not bad considering we're not actively trying to reduce water usage.

One thing I have started doing is showering at the pool after swimming. I try to swim 3 times a week now and wash my hair afterwards, which means I'm currently almost never showering at home. I don't think it saves money, mind, because the gym membership costs £25pcm 😂😂

5 days left until the CC tickover, and this month seems to be relatively low spends as well, with the one exception of renewing my car tax, and buying Small Small some new shoes.

Grocery shop today, which is not my favourite. However, I will be returning a heated blanket to Aldi, because we only bought it in January and it's already died.

Forgot to mention when it happened, but we had a power cut last week, around 7 hours. It cut out half way through cooking our tea, so we bailed out to the nearby carvery, and then went to my parents' for a late night brew and a catch up. Came back on about 2am. Thankfully, this time, the fault was not near us. Last time we had a power cut they ended up digging up the pavement right outside our driveway. This time it was up the road.

With regards to the roof, we currently have 2 quotes, one is around £9k and one is around £7.5k. That's roughly what I'd ballparked tbh, given the increase in materials costs.

Power company have finally gotten in touch about our new prices. Fix ends at the end of April, not the 23rd like I thought. Currently the DD is sitting at £182, which seems remarkably low (I'd have thought £250+). But they also reckon we owe them £400 at the end of our fix, when the last bill (less than a month ago) was at a debit balance of £40, and there is no reason or explanation as to why that would be, and the figures don't explain it at all. Himself rang up to query it, and they hung up on him half way through the phone call :expressionless:

No sign of our council tax rebate thingy yet, but I've heard some people are starting to see them land in bank accounts. Anybody had theirs yet?

No sign of our rebate yet, councils have until 30th September I believe to pay it, if they put all the rebate money in a savings account for a couple of months they could the council a useful amount of money. I'm not expecting to see it any time soon.
