I feel your daughter's pain with the braces, 17 is old to have them on! I had mine taken off when I was 16, after spending the previous couple of years envying everyone that had them in primary school (damn adult teeth not growing fast enough 🤦‍♀️!) Hope she can get a new date soon
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!

It has been pushed back by just a week because they had a cancellation! So fingers crossed next week they will be off!

Meanwhile Middle has been referred from the orthodontist to the hospital for his teeth work, as his underbite is so bad they are considering surgery as well as braces, and covid delaying all our appointments means that they've missed his growth spurt :/

Small Small is coming up to the age where she needs to think about it as well.

At least in lockdown we could still go for walks and go shopping.
I was about to suggest doing some gardening then I glanced out the window and reminded myself that the ground is frozen, everything is covered in the merest sprinkling of snow, but not enough snow to have fun in 🤦‍♀️

Wrt your pay, could you do a blend of the two approaches and pay yourself a set amount each month but if you work over a set amount of hours you are paid more?

I understand how difficult fluctuating paychecks can be OH pay can + or - 30℅ but there is no pattern which makes budgeting harder.
Haha yes, we do actually have some garden work that we could do but not while everything is frozen

I have 2 pairs of pants on today, I'm that cold. I also bought myself an Oodie late last year, so that is delightful to spend lots of time in  I do appear to have misplaced my slippers though, so that's a bit disappointing.

I could do that, but I would find it hard to work it out. The reason I switched over now is because I am now doing more work, and more importantly, more work that is easy to time. I know when I've done a hire that it's been approx an hour's worth of appointments plus approx an hour and half of cleaning. I'm terrible at keeping track of the amount of time I've worked. Given how tightly interwoven it is with my general life, plus me not being very skilled with time keeping in general, I'm not sure I can track it completely.

That was a lot of waffle. As it is now, I'm earning more anyway, so I'm using a figure that is on the lower end of what I could earn for our SOA, and then if there is more, well then that is a bonus. It's the same approach I use for Himself's wages.

    haha it's fine

I started writing out a SOA yesterday morning but then ended up having a busier day than I anticipated and couldn't finish it.

A friend picked us up some groceries to last until Sunday, so I've pinged her some money over for that.

We've started using the Sw33py app, which is an app for keeping track of household cleaning/chores. You add all the rooms in the house and then add tasks like "clean sink" or "vacuum floor", say how often you want to do it and how much effort it takes. If you pay for a year's subscription (a grand total of £13) then you can add all the family members, choose how much effort you want to put in each day (ie, not much for the teens on the days when they're at college, compared to other days) and then it automatically generates some cleaning tasks from the available list. We agreed to give it a go for a year, and if we don't like it we won't renew it. I figured £13 wasn't too much to lose if it doesn't gel, and if it does then excellent. We all suck at keeping track of when stuff needs doing and also at just seeing/knowing what stuff needs to be done. This is part of my effort to make the house/home more neurodivergent-friendly, because while I am the only person who is diagnosed, I am certain that at least 2 other family members are also ND, possibly (likely) all of us. What I don't know is whether it will work for all of us, or only some of us!

My LFT this morning was still positive, but only very faintly. I feel okay, lots of sniffles.

Great news, does this mean you plan to change your user name? 😁

Please give us regular updates on the app, hopefully, it works for you. I like the idea the app is telling the other members of the family what to do instead of me. Then they do not see me as the bad guy.

Absolutely not! Sadly I've been cold for over twenty years. I did recently rediscover the joys of hot tubs (my friend has one) and now I want one. For the record, I have 3 pairs of socks on (one of which is wool) plus 2 pairs of slippers - one pair is the slip on kind, and the other pair is the big boot kind. My feet are still cold....

I certainly shall do! It's definitely going to take a while to fiddle with all the settings to make sure it's exactly right for us, assigning the right jobs to the right people and on the right days etc, but before now we've had a list of things stuck on the wall and nobody looks at it, and everyone feels overwhelmed all the time. Honestly, my ideal is to pay a cleaning company to come in on a regular basis and keep on top of stuff, but that is definitely not in our budget at this point!

Have you had your iron and thyroid levels checked recently?

OH gets cold much more easily since his thyroid isn't as active as it should be, despite medication 😥
