DebbieDodge - re spreadsheet, when I first started on mse I used this one from the main site https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/Budget-planning/ it was good to get started with and then change as you get more confident or have a better idea of what you want from it. Mine is nothing like this now as like Twiggy, its evolved over the years but I found this helpful when I first started out. HTH

  • Hello Everyone

1LuckyLady Thank you for the link and everyone else for the messages.

I have it sorted now. My adult son helped me sort out a spread sheets, using the suggestions I received via messages on here. He sorted the formulas ect so it calculates for me as I go, It started basic then it grew and grew to a monstrocity of a spread sheet lol :D lol ..... so I think I have probably over done it and it could be simplified ... I will trim back what I don't need or what doesn't work for me as I go lol. But thank you all very much.

    Todays Penny Pinching :
    *NSD ..... yay!
*Sorted Spread Sheet (Including a outlook of the year .... eye opening)
*Sent everyone to work/school with packed lunches or Breakfasts
*Did dishwasher and kettle (to thermos) in cheap energy Tariff
    *No Wash load today
*Eating things from freezer (Clearing out, to batch cook next week)
    *Swag Bucks
    *Nectar Surveys
*Meal Plan for next week and plan shopping
*look at home wine making recipes and jams for year
    *List something on ebay

That's about it for today .... feel like I need to do more (to save pennys) ... but not sure what or where yet

Also on the homefront here ... can't clean much as house taken over by DH clearing out and repackaging in loft ... spread throughout lounge ect (but can't complain as that's where the baying is coming from.... plus nice to have a serious clear out) Quite cold today, heating's been on and off, look forward to a blanket on sofa or bed later. Roll on spring :D

    Have a nice afternoon

Oh dear, today was meant to be NSD but I needed cheese and a beer. Had half annual review and my not so lovely boss made me very angry and upset.
SO here I am off to bed in a mo. Made dinner from stores - except for the cheese.

    Morning all,
Thanks for the well wishes. I think its just part of the old "January blues" but it definitely helped me to get a list up so I'm back with another long one! (I know my lists are always long!)

    Today I will...
:grinheart Put a load on the quick 30 degree wash Done
:grinheart Put a beef brisket in the slow cooker for tonight/tomorrow Done
    :grinheart Do Rm surveys Done
:grinheart Update the freezer inventory Done
    :grinheart Meal plan Done
:grinheart Write up shopping list after checking what we actually need Done and only 3 things on it, will go on Sunday when I'll also need bread/fruit/veg for Mondays packed lunches
:grinheart Order a couple of dvds from cex that we haven't been able to get in store, we have to pay an additional £1.50 each for delivery but its using vouchers so no effect on my budget - and its two films we are really looking forward to rewatching! Done- will have to print off the balance of the voucher too (on reclaimed paper of course :rotfl:) Done
:grinheart Check banking/update spreadsheet Done and moved money into new savings acc, its only taken the bank a month to open it  oh and then as I was transferring 2 sums of money it did the first but failed the 2nd and I had to speak to fraud prevention - good that they check these things but I was waiting to get through to them for 25minutes but all done now at least
:grinheart Put the washing away that dried overnight Done
:grinheart Hang todays washing on the heated airer as its raining again here Done
:grinheart Make a chicken curry using the chicken I got out yesterday but didn't use
:grinheart Tidy out the fridge and wipe down, make sure nothing is going to waste (any veggies in there will go into the curry!) Done
:grinheart See if I have enough packaging to safely wrap up lots of wine glasses for the charity shop - we rarely drink wine but have more then 20 wine glasses! I could use the cupboard space (and some are in the garage) for a much better purpose. 12 wine glasses, 6 matching mugs and a candle holder given to a friend :):) I decided to ask if any of my fb friends needed stuff and within 15 mins a friend who lives in the next village picked them up (and brought her own box to take them home in! :) )

That's my start. I'll be back in a bit to tick bits off :D I was saying to dh yesterday that I do feel that the house is serving us better now then it ever has before. We don't have lots of "stuff" sat there doing nothing, (apart from wood etc in the garage that you never know ..might just come in!) we still have a few things we are using up or using til they break but our continuous decluttering, gifting etc really has helped us. I hope that makes sense. I know what I mean! This week alone we've donated a big pile of stuff to the cs, I gifted 2 skateboards to a friend for her much younger kids, I'm gifting one of my two "spare" (this is crazy I know.. ) microwaves to another friend who mentioned in conversation that she was going to be buying one at the weekend (we had one from an ex-tenant and one was ours when we changed to a convection microwave instead) and another friend has gifted me a lovely pair of boots (I would never have bought the style, colour or the fact that they're suede but with my jeans they looked really nice :) ) I do feel that there has been a shift in attitudes to "recycling amongst friends" etc in the last couple of years which I think is great.
Right I've waffled on too long now!! Take care all.

  • Quick post today as Daughter and Grandson are on way over :-) so will be busy with cuddles today.

    Today's Penny Pinching Plans
*Checked Bank :-/ Even though I hate looking at it
*Sold one yoga eye pillow on ebay :-) so spent extra pennies on a red wine making kit (almost free entertainment and almost free booze)
*Boiled Kettle for Thermos in cheap electric
*No wash load or dishwasher today which is bazaar
*Eggs and (needs used) Smoked Salmon Breakfast
*Uplugged and got rid of electric alarm clock , never use it and it just sits there costing me .. using an old battery operated clock attached to two photo frames instead as it is prettier too.
    *All switches off at wall
    *Eating from stores tonight carbonara
*Meal Planning mainly from freezer today and ordering shopping online ... lots of turkey meals next week.

Not a NSD as its fuel and groceries day here ... but going to try for a low energy day.

    Have a nice day all

    Morning folks!

I hope that those who are feeling off are feeling perkier. I know that feeling of your to-do list, your mental energy and your physical energy not aligning!

Sorry for the lack of posting this week but work has been up to my eyeballs. I worked Mon-Wed 8.00-22.00 with no lunch break and just my walk home to break it up! Oh and 3 hours out on Weds for my vestibular physio appointment. Then I worked 10.00-18.00 yesterday, with a small nip out for a couple of errands. I felt a bit rough by the end of it, and felt pretty off when I woke up yesterday morning, but I seem brighter today.

Some reasonable news on that front. Physio thinks that my right ear probably was irreparably altered as a result of the ear infection and that basically my brain is getting different signals from each ear - hence the issues I'm having. On the plus side, she says that they have rehabbed themselves quite well as I carried on as normal and wasn't afraid to move about. She says we can do some more exercises to optimise what functionality I do have :)
My main two issues are moving my head from side to side while walking (that's why supermarkets are an issue) and bobbing up and down (why I hate springy floors and weeding!). She said that she could see my eyes bouncing about in my head trying to make sense of what I was doing!!

So today we are supposed to be doing our normal jaunt to mil's and then going out for dinner as it's my niece's 16th. I won't pretend I'm not nervous as the last time I went out for dinner, I had a panic attack. I'm just trying to keep calm and not make a big deal out of it. I also am not going to go out hungry as that makes me more nervous. I'll have a substantial snack at about 5ish.

Right, enough of me wittering. Today's list:
    :heartpuls Reconcile budget sheet
    :heartpuls CBT group - done!
:heartpuls Bit of scrapbooking - done!
:heartpuls OH to pick up shopping - done!
:heartpuls Nip to butcher's on way to mil's - done!
:heartpuls Make seed snack balls - made mix. Just leaving it to cool before I roll them
:heartpuls Attend to personal grooming so I look a bit better for dinner. Have not shaved legs or underarms for about 5 weeks. I'd pretend that this is a feminist protest and that I'm smashing the patriarchy one hair at a time, but essentially it's a mix of laziness, winter, and not really caring :rotfl: - done!

    Have a good one all
