Do you mean it should have been insured for commuting or bussiness insurance?

This is additional cosmetic damage insurance. Main insurance is covered for class 1 business as well.

So take it up with the broker for miss-advice/selling (which is what PPI was about. NOT T/C)

For £270 it would be better not to claim.. Would lead to far for costs in the coming years for a claim.

Thats another thing. Would you to be obliged to tell your main insurer that you've claimed on a separate policy for this sort of damage?

Even though they've not had to pay out, isn't it true that insurers even load a little for non-fault claims as it is?

£270 was the cost of the policy for 3 years....

My policy, which seems typical, says "You must tell us as soon as reasonably possible about any incident which may lead to a claim under this policy."

So the answer is it would depend upon what caused the cosmetic damage.
  • When I was training to be a police officer West Mids Police asked for a copy of my vehicle insurance to prove I was covered for business use because I would be travelling to several different sites for training.

Some insurance companies include it with fully comp policies, some don't. Check the policy schedule / certificate.

Admiral do not cover business use unless specified

Direct Line do cover use in connection with the policyholder's business

Commuting only usually covers to and from a permanent place of work e.g. office car park / shop

Never knew there was such a thing. But a quick google and a look at policy doc shows
which seems to imply that business use is not covered.

Why would you pay £270 extra for "Cosmetic damage". That would be covered under your main policy, subject to excess.
Which I take it the "Cosmetic" policy would also have.

Quite. And what is "cosmetic damage insurance" anyway.

    Gives you some idea.

Just covers chips/scratches etc that you would not claim on your main policy.

Sounds like it covers any cosmetic damage over and above the fair wear and tear guidelines on a PCP/lease.

I had never heard of cosmetic damage insurance.

Can’t believe many people take it out
